I don't own the Roll20 module for it, but I have read the module as I am a fan of the Temple of Elemental Evil. It does not include anything for the charactermancer which is a disappointment considering it has a supplement associated with it for new races and spells. The mapwork is solid Mike Schley maps with decent dynamic lighting. For $25 you are still saving a TON of time, so anyone planning to run it should pick it up, imo. As an adventure? I felt this one was a bit stale and could have benefitted from some scaling guides. For example "in this rea if the party is level X do Y, if they are level X=1 do Z." It's set up to be a sandbox, but each area is dramatically different in CR and relevant difficulties, sort of like a megaman game is "sandbox" but there is an overall correct order to complete it, this adventure feels the same way.

@@CrashGem CrashGem thanks for that info! I THINK I have all the PotA possible compendium stuff covered with xanathar's guide though. I was mostly interested in the roll20 take on it. Since I have all the hardcover books that theyve published, the maps and tokens are the most important thing for me with the purchase. (And most of the mods are now only $24.95 btw) Mike Schley is great. I've had him make some custom maps for a converted D&D Next adventure I ported to 5e and ran for about a year out of Daggerford (he lives only 90 minutes from me).

I'm about to get the Dragon of Icespire Peak to have fun on Roll20 (lockdown 🤷‍♂️). I Do you know if it is any good? What can I expect from it, it is hard to find details on its content online. And by the way, thanks so much for your recent tutorials, I watched the 20 over the last week and feel confortable enough to give it a go!

short answer: If you already own it on DNDBeyond, the hard sell is, is it worth $35 to have someone else size and dynamically light 16 maps for you? Dragon of Icespire Peak - I have played a few of the adventures, and I own it (through DNDBeyond, and the physical box). The box set is a great value IMO and an excellent way to get into D&D. The adventures have been fresh, but also familiar. I have not checked out the roll20 module as a DM. From what I have seen the roll20 version does, in fact, have colored maps, unlike mad mage and saltmarsh. Also, being set in Phandalin you can combo it with the original start set adventure, Lost Mine. And being set in Phandalin there are lots of community-made maps and such for the town, NPCs, and region out there.

Thanks for the detailed answer! I like the idea of having good quality maps already dynamically lighted. Also I want to buy the monster manual in any case, so I (well, we as a group to share the cost!) might go for the bundle having everything: marketplace.roll20.net/browse/bundle/4767/dandd-dm-starter-bundle
