Learning How to Vogue in 30 Days (ft. Leiomy Maldonado) | Glamour
Ойын-сауық
In this episode of 30 Days to Greatness, Audrey learns how to vogue from the legendary Leiomy Maldonado, known as the Wonder Woman of Vogue. Vogueing is a style of dance characterized by model-like poses with angular body movements, inspired by the magazine of the same name. Vogueing started in the Harlem ballroom scene, an underground QTPOC (Queer and Trans People of Color) community. Most participants in ball culture belong to groups known as "houses" that serve as alternative families, primarily consisting of Black and Latino queer youth. Vogueing gained mainstream exposure in 1990 when it was featured in the documentary "Paris is Burning" and Madonna's song and video "Vogue."
Catch Audrey learning signature Vogue moves including posing, cat walking, duck walking, and dipping.

@fridathingnes6549

@@BBaaaaa well actually im not basing it on research, but thats what I remember Diesel Ninja telling me when he had me in vogue during a project i took part in. According to him as far as I can remember, old way originated in prison when (lgbt) men weren't allowed to see their spouses and were given vogue magazines as "compensation", ultimatly they ended up taking their agression out by "posing the best" later when they got out they got together with the drag community. I don't know for sure, but i really know that thats what ive been told. I agree that femme more than certainly originated in the lgbt communities but then again there was first old way, then new way and then femme so idk

As someone that went to an All Girl's school for 7 years and was forced to take dance for 5 of those years (compulsory lesson), wearing a little spandex and going barefoot really makes the difference. 1. Wearing a leotard and jazz pants creates a sort of alter ego, 2. Your bare feet are tacky and help stop slipping on hard floors.
Advice for life: "Where are your knee pads?"
Watching this video, i get really proud of myself and my dancer career. Not a long time ago, i was like this girl, trying learn how to vogue. I already knew other dance styles but i was really obsessed and trying my best. It's ALL ABOUT PRATICE

Leiomy should have her own TV show.... love her
Im not surprised you did so well. Girl you already had it in you. You just needed a great teacher to bring it out and you got one of the best. Shes smart, experienced, passionate and awesome.
Awww.... I got a little emotional when they did the routine in the end. Good job ladies.
The refreshing thing about the instructors in this 30 Days to Greatness series is their mentorship: it's not just a paid session, it's a real experience
