Hi !! Jade your predictions are certainly good but i still think the most beautiful way of learning english at present at least is the way you make videos are.I mean the way you try and explain the stuff really matters a lot. Person like me who has those sharp ears can really pick that british accent and trust me that accent is mellifluous. Its not about the accent but the way actually you speak and understand matters a lot..Its an honour to have a person like you who does your craft so divinely..Keep doing it lady.It helps a lot !! Million Thanx Jade...

    Oh my, I was hoping I would be done learning English by 2030 ... but I guess it's a never-ending process 😂

If you ask me, yes it's never-ending. Some time ago it occurred to me that I should learn about ten new words a day as a routine, but I'm lagging behind that very much. So for me it might take even longer... 😂

  • @StephaneSmarties

Indeed, and English is such a rich language, there is always more to learn. That's the beauty of it. Ten words a day seems to be quite difficult to me on a long period of time. I'd be happy if I remember just one new word every day. I need to adjust to the limits of my failing memory and that's the real challenge 😅 Good luck!

There's so many ideas, thank you, very relaxed and insightful video. :) I'd just travel into the future far-far away... Imagine if we terraformed new worlds and for obvious reasons, those new planets all spoke some form of English. Practically, all those new worlds would speak their own versions of English, and of course we would have some hyperspace super-technology to communicate throughout the new worlds. Therefore they would be mutually intelligible, or at least everybody would have their own non-standard dialects and accents, and at the same time still speak/understand the "High-English" or literary English or inter-planetary English of our good old Earth (because they would learn it in schools). But on good old Earth, people would still grow up speaking their own non-English languages, and some of them - horribile dictu - would probably hardly understand inter-planetary English! Or they would speak some "broken" English... If exoplaneteers met Earthlings on a space station, they might not be able to communicate very well. My point is that I come from a country where an English speaker is still lost as natives hardly speak a foreign language. They might understand some basic English, mostly when it's written, but they cannot converse in English. In a nutshell, I imagine English will end up somewhere like ancient Rome and Latin over centuries: it will "deviate" into multiple ways in different regions and these will cease to be mutually intelligible.

I imagine that the context of speaking English in the future will be increasingly globalised, and that English will still be the number one language that half the world speaks, and the other half has to learn ..... Who knows what 2030 Global English will sound like, but I hope there will still be a place for the well-spoken, rather than posh English English, that you have been promoting over the years. Who knows, there might even be statues of you in town squares, and arses wanting to pull them down. Happy days Jade, you hero.

I guess learning a foreign language will not be a necessary option. Unless one wants to reside permanently in some country. For tourists/business people etc - there will be an easy option. Something that is on the phone. An advanced version of google translate. In a way it will become a hobby rather than a necessity

This applies to literal level of languages. But, figurative level- like simile, metaphor, allegory, synecdoche, etc, or extended level, like figures of speech, etc. implicit level (vs. literal level), etc.-- can purely literal level deal + these other levels of meanings?

I think in the future we'll speak an amalgamation of all major languages, someting like the street speak in Blade Runner 1982. The act of teaching will become more computerized - learning programs (maybe some will interface with Ilon Musk's neurolink ?). I will still be learning form a Jade android though :)
