    i've found this idea of self as a context to be extremely helpful with even the most painful feelings and thoughts. however for last few days i've felt very zoned out and it's so hard for me to connect with this sense of self. what to do? is the dissociation clouding the consciousness itself of should it be considered as a sensation or emotion?

    I think the point of this segment is not to necessarily "connect" with a sense of self but to be able to observe the thoughts and emotions without judging or fighting (or being them). Your comment sounds something like, "I would be better off if I could just connect with my sense of self." The effort to control that connection could paradoxically prevent it from happening. What would happen if you instead noticed the internal experience of the dissociation or being zoned out without becoming part of the struggle to resolve it?
