Learning About The Power Of Being Sober with Dean McCullough

“I thought it was my turn to be alcohol dependant”
How can you have a good night out when you’re sober? Radio 1’s Dean McCullough is here to tell you.
Scott and Dean share the highs and lows of their sobriety journeys, and reflect on how quitting drinking has helped them learn more about themselves. Dean opens up to Scott about why he chose to give up alcohol. He also talks about the pressures that can come from people around you, especially when your friends are used to you being the life and soul of the party.
Plus you’ll also discover how Dean got his dream job at Radio 1, when his original plan was to play James Bond.
Season 3 of Learning As I Go is supported by British Triathlon. Throughout this series, you’ll hear updates from Scott as he trains for his first triathlon in July. Fantastic episode. Dean comes across as a genuinely caring and empathetic person, loved his address around 53 mins where he talks about recognising people out there with serious ongoing struggles that might drink just to get through the day, very heartfelt that he’s recognising those kind of issues in society. As a sober curious person this podcast has really made me think about quitting or at least taking a break and seeing how I feel. Thank you 🙌🏻

This is another brilliant upload. Thanks for shedding light on such a difficult topic. You are both right when you have a career that is worth dedication drink can be a distraction. I limited my alcohol intake four years since. I enjoy having alcohol. I can live without when on a night out. Really empowering feeling to be in control. Having the strength to say no I not drinking tonight ❤❤
