    quote from a deaf person in THIS COMMENTS SECTION "As a deaf person myself I have something to say about this Oushi actually strikes me as a person who doesn't treat her like a delicate princess for her disability. He treats her like a person." We can stop white knighting now. As someone with crohns, Its so irritating when people get overly nice suddenly the moment i mention what i have crohns. Please stop treating people with unique situations differently, please stop being so serious and protective around us. Treat us normally. Thank you.

    The major thing I noticed between oushi and itsuomi is oushi is always trying to make her world smaller and itsumomi wants to bring her world into his making it bigger. There are a lot of people like oushi, who, no matter how much they care about someone with disabilities, the disability is what they see first. To oushi fans: childhood friend/tsundere or not, a person who doesn’t even understand that his deaf friend can have other friends who care for her /help her /love her because she is worth all that, shouldn’t be in her life.

    i think it's actually beneficial because characters having flaws allows the plot to progress and for them to grow and evolve. a story helps showcase that and it's okay to have problems with his behaviour, that's the whole point. also his concern goes beyond a surface level explanation, he's genuinely concerned that those girls might have ulterior motives and are being disingenuous in their interactions. i think that's normal because anyone would be apprehensive of others trying to interact with a friend of yours who experiences the world differently because of a disability or is opposite to a societal norm. he's just incredibly awkward with his communication, which is not a justification for it but merely an explanation.

  • @huh5950

    @aden9160 That's good and all but doesn't warrant her putting up with his behavior or attitude all the time or (as he clearly wishes) loving him romantically unfortunately. Especially since she already has to struggle to communicate and now she has to read possible intentions to because he's a tsundere. As someone that cares for her, not taking her feelings in consideration and adding burden on her by making conversation and interacting with others more difficult for her is a problem he should reflect on seriously. Parents want their children to be happy and not let them go near bad people but if they confined the kids at home and told them they could only talk with them and that everyone else was bad, especially by implying that people wouldn't normally go near the kid because they have something wrong you would consider it mental abuse no matter the "intentions" the parents could have had, same here. That pertains to a lot of tsunderes portrayed in anime recently

  • @aden9160

    @aden9160

    @@huh5950absolutely and while I completely agree with your point, I only intended to make a comment on the plot specifically with characters existing as devices for growth - which I should have clarified and recognize how it contributed to the misunderstanding. she is in no way obligated to return/reciprocate his feelings, nor is she responsible for his awkwardly unruly and condescending way of interacting with her. but he does exist as a foil and a roadblock to 1st male lead and in her own path to self-advocacy. EDIT: an additional point, unfortunately a lot of authors/mangaka tend to structure their character plots/interactions based off of pre-existing tropes and is definitely something to consider when approaching the conversation about quality representation.

    It's a story, characters with flaws is what makes stories worth enjoying. Eh, I have to disagree. As a deaf person myself I have something to say about this Oushi actually strikes me as a person who doesn't treat her like a delicate princess for her disability, but rather as he would with any other friends. He treats her like a person. Itsoumi Seems like he's just fascinated by her disability and by how "cute" she is. Just because he learned sign language for her doesn't mean he doesn't see her as an object similar to a fish in a fish tank. But ultimately, I know the show will make you believe Itsoumi is the one for her so already I can forsee my personal issues with this.

And just because Itsoumi is nice to her and thinks she is cute doesn't mean he doesn't see her as a person. Yes he is fascinated by her but she is also fascinated by him. There is no instance where Itsoumi treats her like an object. He is just very kind and respectful and that has nothing to do with her "being a delicate flower" or him seeing her as one.

Im so excited to see whats to come with this anime! I love how different JSL is compared to ASL!

    @zoraackerman1684 YAYYY I'm happy the anime has inspired you to learn Sign! I have so many tips but I'll share the most important ones! 1) please keep in mind and never forget this. The Hearing- CANT teach. It is because it is not apart of our culture and it's very offensive to teach other hearing people sign (unless you are an interpreter ofc with a degree). Only learn from the deaf as they grew up with sign as their first language and they know all the right signs. Please please please never forget that. 2) Bill vicars! Hes a deaf teacher on youtube who teaches and shows sign for ASL if that's the sign u desire to learn. Hes a very very good teacher and has helped me beyond anything else. 3) VR. Yes. I know its cheesy but get a vr. You can easily find a VR that someone already used once and buy it for cheap. Reason for this is because while playing on Vrchat I was able to find a deaf community. I kid you not. LOTS of the deaf go into vrchat and it's incredible how they even came up with their own finger spelling to communicate with eachother- so a warning but lots of people who are hearing or "mute" will try and teach you sign (plus because its vrchat the hands are limited so you canT do all the signs like IRL so most of the sign is wrong but you can still get your sign across since the deaf can tell what you are trying to sign). Please DONT learn from them. Go to the deaf and ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS learn from youtube or IRL sign! 4) Learn the language structure of ASL. Although it seems ASL is English in sign it is not. Asl is indeed English, but it has the structure of Spanish and French. 5) PSE and ASL. if you go in Vr you will realize lots of people sign in PSE which is ASL but in English structure. Its not considered a language since it's not the correct one however if it's easier for you to learn first you may learn it just as long as you learn the structure of ASL in the future. I suggest you learn the structure of ASL first though and use it from there. As a person who used PSE first it's a struggle to break the habit. That it all I have for the most important! I wish you luck! If you ever need someone to help I dont mind giving you my discord. But good luck!

    @zoraackerman1684 here are the best tips ive learned and gotten. 1) ALWAYS and ONLY learn from the deaf. We hearing people aren't apart nor did we grow up in their culture. So when you are learning ASL learn only from a person who is deaf and learned ASL as their first language. 2) Bill Vicars (on youtube) He's a deaf teacher- helped me so freaking much! 3) Go to a deaf community group in your area or get a VR and surround yourself with the deaf and their culture and befriend a few so you can not only learn from them but also realize why the deaf community is so different compared to hearing such as people like us. 4) Understand the difference between ASL structure and English sentence structure and use it correctly when practicing ASL. Those are the most important ones! Good luck!

    @zoraackerman1684I recommend trying to find people to learn from in person. There's a ton of subtext and accents that are best picked up face to face. A lot of colleges and universities have a class, and a lot of clubs or communities are willing to teach anyone interested, just googling "learn ASL [city]" could get you a lead to follow. If you want to try to learn a language online, more power to ya, but making friends helps so much.

  • @packkiller8693

    @zoraackerman1684 Honestly? You can learn ASL online if you want to, but in-person is 100x better. I recommend taking up an asl 1 course online and then proceed from there if you really want it to be online. If you just want to learn the language for free, then you will have flaws in your signing because you'll just be watching youtube videos, since I dont think there are any available free courses for ASL at the moment. Most of those flaws can be rectified if you attend deaf community events where they can correct your signing. So if you just want a free way of learning, you can start with searching for videos of the alphabet, grammar, rules, W-WH-WHE-WHO-H videos.Then learn vocabulary and talk to actual deaf people. Of course, I still think you should take an in-person class or an online course if you really want it to be online, but this is what I recommend to learn ASL online and for free.

    A close friend of mine has a deaf sister. I liked her because she wasn't afraid to be herself, and I wanted to learn sign language to communicate with her. However, the more I got to know her, with the help of my friend ofc, those feelings disappeared and were replaced with a small...uncomfortably between us. Our mothers, who are super close friends, tried to get us to start over cause there was some issues between us, so we began writting letters to each other. Then, one day she just stopped out of nowhere, but I kept sending letters once a week, or so. About a month later, I gave up on giving leters with no response. Currently, we dont even interact with each other, but we hang out with each other's family. Its animes like this one that really made me question where I went wrong in trying to built the friendship between us, or if I had done something to her to make her not like me.
