Best technique break-down! I am 41, and I learned the butterfly in the last three months. The first week was hard, but with the fly, it's all about practice.

Congrats. Only children and the most gifted can learn butterfly so quickly. I’m 40, hopefully already there, but it took me 10 years of regular trying 😅

@@northsta thanks 🙏 Very true children can master it quicker but, my kids are 13 and 8 and both can fly however, others in their class still struggle to get the technique right. It's also, something to do whith weather the person can visualize it and apply it correctly. Yes, I am 41 but watching fly breakdown and applying it portion by portion helped me complete the stroke effectively

A very good explanation on the principles of fly, however, as an official, this swimmer would be disqualified at a USA-S or a YMCA sanctioned meet as the kick shown between 3:26 and 3:40 is an alternating kick.

could you elaborate sir please. I couldn't tell the difference. I had just recently learned the stroke with a lot less effort and more speed. I'm interested sir. Did you mean like the tendency to deviate into something like a flutter kick? Thanks.

If you look closely during the timeframe mentioned, you will see the right foot more above the left, then as you see the kick down, then come back up, you will see the left foot on top.

And just for clarity. From the USA swimming rulebook Kick - All up and down movements of the legs and feet must be simultaneous. The posi- tion of the legs or the feet need not be on the same level, but they shall not alternate in rela- tion to each other. A scissors or breaststroke kicking movement is not permitted.
