    Pretty amazing that this video was filmed in 1999-2000ish next to Cheeca Lodge Resort on the Moorings Property using the Hobie 16 by the Hobie Dealer, Caribbean Watersports. They are still in business at Playa Largo Resort in Key Largo as of 2023 and rent the Hobie Wave and Getaway.

    Yes it does! Have a feeling with the foiling thing taking off the H16 will be one of few non foiling cats to survive the foiling phase. Plus the H16 is king in the surf, and foiling does not work in the surf.

    its much better on your rig if you sheet in the main tight right before a gybe.not cleating it and letting it our right away.

  • @funtosail

    Good point. Annie (instructor in the video) is throwing the main which is good to do especially when in the surf and not having a lot of time to sheet in and out. In my beginner classes I teach sheeting in, then turn/jibe, and then sheet out when mainsail bends to the other side of the boat (battens pop opposite way as they where before the jibe)... see my other learn-to-sail video... kzread.info/dash/bejne/ZoCuuMaOYsTPeLA.html

    Did you mean to have one rudder blade up?

  • @dchall8

    @dchall8

    6 жыл бұрын

    Yes she did. When sailing downwind you only need one rudder, usually the leeward rudder, to steer. Having the second rudder down results in more drag and slightly slower speed. The speed matters more in racing than it does in day sailing.
