Thank you so much for this! It would be awesome to see this kind of video for the other editions! I’m a noob with no knowledge of table top games but I love painting. I’ve been thinking about buying one of these boxes and this video convinced me to buy! But not sure which one to get yet. :)

We just and so squeezed this on between lockdowns - we had planned to do it for the other editions. Not sure at this point as it has been so long since we did anything battle report wise, we need to get some fresh content out for many games.

@@ModellingforAdvantage certainly looks it. At first compared to DI it seems lower in value because there are fewer miniatures on either side, but when you consider the terrain, it's definitely up there

Yes indeed they are. Wish I could see this played that way to get a better idea of strategy. I've found it very hard to win with Space Marines on this mission with Marines on roof and I'm curious if I'm missing something

Also, the scenario is won if any Marines are alive (on roof) at end of round 4 and also Scarabs auto-wound with any hit rolls of 6

@@thirddreamermeditationandy5516 I've played the mission couple times and was able to win only by killing 4 warriors on the 1st marine turn. Yet still with that luck 1st necron left only 2 guys alive. Everything else was pure marines luck. However, I must admin I am not 100% sure yet if warden was able to see the guys from the position it was shooting in my game (I assumed yes). Even with that poor sarge surviwed with one wound, so it would be really interesting to see how this mission would've played out by the people who familiar with w40k and using that custom rule.

Hi guys! Awesome video, really helpfull. I have a little question tho: In min 20:36 the scarabs get hit by the primaris chainswords wich has AP -1 and the scarabs make have a SV 6+, why are you useing SV 4+? Wouldn´t those hits be direct wounds? You would need a 7 to make the saving thats why I´m asking. Thanks in advanced!

One mistake you guys made was the space marines can't leave that box as they are supposed to be holding a defensive position

Yeah, we missed that. It seems like it would have made a big difference to the outcome.

So if this is 9th edition then the difference is the command phase,? I just ordered this thinking it was compatible with 10E well the models should be fine these intro missions should be ok also. I have seen some 10 e gameplay. So how would I take this and be able to integrate to 10e. I have bought my 10e adepta sororitas (my sisters is my army choice so. I am coming from 4th edition. The battle for black reach 6th edition briefly? 30 years of BATTLETECH and gamemastering rpgs since 83. Also learning how to Gm wh fantasy 4e, and 40k wrath of glory. Oh and this Battle Sister is the proud owner of Space Hulk 3rd edition took me 15 years to find it saw it in high school in 1989 I think. I would appreciate any help in taking the starter set and playing 10e with it...

There are many small differences, but yes, the command phase is very different.

Nice Vod but why arent you playin with Shock Assault and Reanimation Protocols in this video? That makes the match kind of not representative. Without Dynasty and Chapter is interesting, on the other side. And Scarabs have a Sv of 6+. So no Sv vs. the -1 Chainswords, not 4+...maybe I oversaw other mistakes. Did you dont have the correct datasheets? Could be confusing for beginners. Sorry not offensive!

The missions in this set have very limited rule set - designed to slowly introduce you to the rules.

Ok thanks for the answer. I think its not that clear if you click on this video. I thought you used regular (matched play) rules. But the armor of the scarabs?;) why not adding a banner to clear the mistake?

So you can charge after moving and shooting with the SM, And Hit too if charge went fine!? Can that ne Right????? I mean, SM won all of the negron Warriors in first round almost.... That cant be right... You cant move, shoot, charge and fight melee in one go... Do let me know

This is how the game works, yes. And the turn sequence is the way it is to enable that.

These missions are carefully crafted to teach rules with models provided. In truth they are hugely unbalanced matches comparing the units in the full game.

Jeez, space marines are EVIL. They are soooo strong. I hope I don’t see them in tournemt

These missions certainly push their strengths.

Would have been a great video to watch as I just got into 40k with this box but for a headphone listener the swallowing and mouth smacking sounds are just to much to bear hahah for 25 more minutes

Sadly not much we can do about it at the moment. We use lapel mics to keep the audio levels high for people on things like phones. I have looked into this issue. Requires much better editing equipment than we have. Check back next year, things might be different. Cheers
