    @viennapalace 0 seconds ago I must admit, for the initial tuning of my violin, I used an electronic tuner but I do like being able to tune it by ear & you also cleared up something I have wondered about since childhood (a long long time ago) - Why tuning forks only come in A! Thank you! 😊

    My opinion only: I read a lot of reviews on Amazon where people break the first string they try tuning when changing to new strings or buying a new instrument. My theory: the A is thin and weak, so why not start with the G? I put new strings on, one at a time, and leave them flat by a full tone or so. An hour later, tune up to within a half tone. An hour later bring up to pitch. Overkill? Maybe, but you won’t break a string starting with the G and going slow. I’m really a cellist and a set of strings is usually $350-450 so ya, we do not want to break any!
