Did you ever finish the Neosoul workout book, I’ve been anticipating the learning material? Also are there any chord funks that focus on funk chord inversions and triads specifically? Great lesson as always. Happy holidays!

@@johnmcaleese8459 Keep churning out solid and precise16th notes with your strumming hand. When you need to accent, stay on time but strike the strings "snappier" when you need the chord to jump out. Left hand muting is essential also. Nile Rogers and Jimmy Nolen are 2 of the best examples of guys who set the standard in this style and technique.

Thank you brother you’re saving my butt right now. I used to think I was pretty funky because I gave him play with Michael blend, Prince’s Drummer at one point and I’ve been in the black church for years. But the Director it is church in Pittsburgh where I’m at now it’s telling me that I’ve been pushing the beat being too aggressive…. Got that rock ‘n’ roll with me you know?? Anyhow, I’m learning a lot and there’s not too many people out there playing funky gospel guitar so you’re a real godsend, my brother

I've been listening to a track by Miles Davis called "Shout" and he's got some really funky, really good guitar backing him on it. So I've been seeing if maybe I could play it, and man is it hard. And I'm not sure I've even got the chords right. And also realized I needed to focus on my right hand rhythm too. So I'm watching what you do on this video and trying to play along with you and you have me feeling like maybe I can do this. Your video is great . Thanks very much for making it.

Kerry, thanks for the funk lesson. I needed this tutorial because you break it down in ways others have fallen short. I just join your camp and I am hoping I will find new teaching from one of your early videos...Call "Old School Chords." But you did not talk much about the chord structure themselves. Man, I remember that sound from some of the Gospel tunes that would come on WDIA out of Memphis, Tenn. Thanks again for all that you do to help us play better guitar.
