    Thank you for a very instructional video. I haven't done needlepoint in many years and wish to start up again, and you have given me some pointers which I did not know especially about preserving the thickness of the yarn. Again, thanks!

    I have learnt alot from your video since I will be embarking on my first project. Just one thing, whilst you were demonstrating the stitches, the camera were not showing how you were threading the work. Thank you and I hope you will do more!

    What kind of floor frame or loom is that?

    Absolutely gorgous. I'm so new to this craft but loving it. May I ask about the wool you use. I know most kits I buy come with wool supplied but should I wish to use my own colours what ply would you recommend? Mostly the ones I've come across look like double knitting. Also what is meant by the term 'count' .... like 10 count or 14 count. Many thanks and I hope my question isn't too simplistic. Clare x

    I would love if it was a bit more 3 dimensional, is there any way to make the work stick out more, like using maybe a fluffy yarn or so?

    You can use textured stitches from a stitch dictionary (online or in print), especially for the background, but some are suitable for use on details, too.

    I cannot thank you enough. This is what I have been exactly looking for. Loved the video and will diffidently watch the others. I had my first tapestry around 22 years ago, and you would not want to look at it, it was my first experience with needlepointing (my mom’s first experience as well), as we come from an area where such art is not practiced. Many thanks

    It would have been nice for him to say things like, leave the yarn hanging from the back while you use another color. He just really didn't explain step by step what he was doing or why.

    Tapestry is done on a loom, and needlepoint is done on a frame, isn't it?

  • @maryrosenbaum5146

    For a beginning needlepoint video instructions should have ben clearer. For example, it's not enough to say "use same dye lot" because some might not know what that means. The "why" was missing. Also, your hand was sometimes blocking what you were doing, camera not always in focus and not always steady.

  • @TrudySchwartzBurrill
    @TrudySchwartzBurrill6 жыл бұрын

    Eautifil. I had no idea that blocking actually made the fabric glued together. Thanks for explain9ng why mh canvas is not squared when im done. I have been doing needlepoint since I was in high school. I come from an effluent Jewish area in San Fernando valley. LA county in CA. In school I took a fiber class 8n high school and we learned how to Macrame, to crochet and how to needle point. Only three disaplineas as it was only as half semester art elective. I've never stopped doing any fiber works and do several other applications as well. I love fiber and work with it often. Im knitting a baby blanket for my first grandchild currently. So glad I found your YouTtube channel. I subscribed. I am going to get a loom now for my work. Am I correct that for needlepoint I should never have a round embroidery type hoop. Am I correct that you would never put the hoop over where you will stitch? Then you must have an adjustable kind and a round type for embroidery? Is that correct? Thank you kindly, Trudy

    "Effluent" family huh? Effluent- liquid waste or sewage discharged into a river or the sea. You may have come from an AFFLUENT family NOT effluent. Your really should proofread your posts before you post them. You have so many spelling and grammar mistakes whoever provided your education should be fired. Now before you get all upset, you must realize coming from and "effluent" family that how one presents ones self is so important for so many reasons. It wold be like wearing a ST. JOHN suit with Payless shoes! One just tears the credibility of the other to shreds.

    you can use 10 count Penelope (brown canvas) it is available on ebay and other places online... most of it is made by Zweigart... this should work well for you...if you want smaller stitches, get 14 count instead of 10. Chris

    can one just use the continental stitch throughout the project?

  • @ChrysGonz

    @ChrysGonz

    7 жыл бұрын

    you could but continental can distort your canvas badly and it will need blocked heavily to get it back into shape. If you learn to do the basketweave stitch as the background and where large blocks of one color are needed, you will enjoy this stitch more and it will help lessen the contortion. I hope this helps, Chris

    Sometimes a canvas is painted by an artist, sometimes it is stamped on the canvas by machine....one an also work a needlepoint from a chart, or buy one that has tramme worked onto the canvas. Tramme is the process of laying long threads of color on the canvas to show what color should go where... all the needlepointer has to do is complete the tent stitches over the tramme threads.
