Learn To Add Clothing To Your Characters | Comics - Manga - Character Design - Loomis

Line and Color Quick Start Guide: www.thedrawingcodex.com/quick...
Designing a great character is one thing. But making sure you can quickly draw it again and again is another!
A key part of drawing comics with your own characters... or re-drawing your favourite fan art... is knowing how to sketch in the figure with all the special elements that make up the character.
Often we need to both quickly pose and get the proportions right... but also know that all of the important elements of clothing and accessories are there too.
The character is made up from their base anatomy.. what they wear and how they hold themselves. So sketching all three at the same time is key.
In this video I go over some tips and advice for how to do this. And demonstrate what it looks like based on some of the comic characters I have had to draw over and over again.
This is something you can think about once you start learning the basic anatomical proportions and understand how to quickly pose characters using stick figures or 'Mannequins' (that word just means puppet! which is a great way to think about our characters).
I have talked about this idea in some of the other videos on the channel:
If you want to learn about the techniques I am using based on the Loomis Method you can check out these videos:

Drawing an Action Pose - • Practice Drawing An Ac...
With most types of stylised types of art - There is often a mix of structure and perspective and technical drawing.... combined with symbols and abstract features.
Once you get good at blocking in proportion and posing with the Loomis Method you can use it to suit your own style.
It's just a tool you can use to help you draw cool stuff!
Happy Drawing!

Honestly, the most recognizable character designs are very "brandable" Ie, Micky mouse, Pikachu, super man, Goku, Link, Darth Vader, Clifford the big red dog, even [the despicable] cocomelon. They make good mascots and this makes people want to buy merch of them (or create fanart and cosplay). Or you can look at it as they have appeal. They have traits that "speak" to their intended audience.

Why these so called artists just can’t draw from their heads on how to clothes characters. I can do that by looking at what see. These are not artists these are copycats who can copy art by looking at it. There’s nothing original here
