Hey guys,
In this video I will show you how to play the popular ,,Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" Intro John Mayer played in a Two Rock Demo Video in 2007. The original video might be filmed with a so called "Potato Camera", but the things he plays in there show the definition of his style.

    Thanks so much for making this. I think the challenge is capturing all the John Mayerisms in this piece. So many little expressive touches.

    Awesome video and clear instruction! And I have to say, as somebody with an ear for guitars, be even the slightest out of tune, your guitar here is not only perfectly tuned, but it’s impeccable intonation!! Killer job on everything you put out! What is your rig for these Mayer vids?’ Sounds amazing!!

    Thank you so much Josh! :) I really appreciate that! On the older Videos it is almost always the Two Rock Studio Pro 22 and my MiM Road Worn 60's Strat. Almost always directly into the Amp. Meanwhile my Strat has Texas Specials in it and not TexMex PickUps. This Video here had the old Pickups, the Amp just really is so great and gives you instant John Mayer Tones. In the last year or so I switched to the Neural Dsp Cory Wong Plugin and use the Effects in that Plugin. Sometimes I use the Overdrive sound from my Ibanez TS10. In the future I definitely want to switch to real Amps again...it's just a different feeling for me and I play much better...

    Thank you Ben! Your channel was flooded with pure gems this year. Still can't figure out how John does these two note or cord vibratos without stoping the string to ring. Do you thing he does them upwards rather than downwards?

  • @BenK.

    @BenK.

    Жыл бұрын

    Thank you so much Sergei! :) Do you mean the vibrating chords? I believe he is pulling the strings first down and then up in a continuous way. Also keep in mind, that the bass notes of a lot chords hes playing are fretted with the left hand thumb. So you don't have to try to apply vibrato there...it's really most often the g/b string notes of the chord.

    Moin Ben, wie mutest du bei 8:17 die G und hohe E-Saite beim Rake, hab mit dem Lick die meisten Probleme ….

  • @BenK.

    @BenK.

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey :) In dem Fall kommt der Ringfinger nicht komplett gerade von oben (wie sonst, wenn man relativ sauber spielt) sonder er liegt quasi etwas abgeflacht auf der Saite, eben so, dass ich die h und e Saite mute. Dann kann ich mit dem Zeigefinger in der rechten Hand problemlos raken. Ich hoffe das hilft, probiers mal aus.
