Why does she have a slight h sound at the end of the word "nuit"? Thanks! I always think and hear people saying it as /nɥi/. Same for when she ends any words with a vowel. Is that a common accent?
@thesqueegee86
4 жыл бұрын
I was wondering the same thing. I heard another French speaker in a documentary and he did not do this. So it's apparently an accent. Anyone know which kind?
@anidinaa
4 жыл бұрын
@@thesqueegee86 It depends of the accent actually, normally it's not pronounced with a 'H'. Usually the parisien (paris) French accent is the one adding the sound. If you go to Quebec (canada) or belgium (+ any country around France that has french speakers) you might not hear it.
@Melmel9703
4 жыл бұрын
As a french native speaker I just can tell you that I don't hear any "h" at the end of nuit. 😅 H sound is something that doesn't exist in french so we may make that sound not intentionally. Maybe it depends of the context. Like when we're exited or something like that.
@hieniemic
4 жыл бұрын
@@Melmel9703 It's like she blows out a little air every time she ends a sentence with a vowel. Even when she says something in English, like "How are you(phew)". I have seen several French people doing this, so guess it's just a French thing or some kind of accent. It might be different for you to pick up this because you are so used to it, but to a foreigner's ear, it's easy to see. She doesn't always make this sounds but many times she does.
