My Dad is Croatian, he never taught me but I've wanted to learn it for years. Think I'm gonna surprise him. I'd say Croatian is actually a great language for someone to learn as a second. I learned a bit of French in high school but not much stuck. Learned a bit of Spanish since and it seems nice. But I've got to learn the other tongue in my blood before I learn anything else, so to speak. I've learned the basics of Croatian now and some phrases. It seems beautiful. It is such a logical language compared to English. No silent letters, few if any words that are spelled/ sound the same yet have 5 different meanings. I love how in Croatian, words are sounded out exactly as they're spelt. My father struggled learning English as a native Croatian, and I see why. The English language is soo illogical.

I learned Croatian as I traveled through Zagreb and Rijeka with my cell phone translator. It worked well, but the Croatians were pretty clever and could reply in English! They were friendly and helpful and happy to see someone like me trying to speak their language. Great video!

Hi, I am from Melbourne Australia and in the 1970s, my dad and grandparents came from Croatia and migrated to the West of our city. Since then, my dad met my mother whose parents moved from Italy. In quarantine I decided to learn both languages, and I have studied Italian for 3 months and can speak quite a bit, so now I have decided to focus on Hrvatski!

Never let him go without bread with any meal. A Croatian male can only survive maximum 48 hours without bread. And if he's homesick, tell him to go to pekara to get bread, right in the middle of a football match he's watching. If he starts shouting stuff that sounds like ah jeby gah!! Hochu kuratz u peachku materinu it means he's very thankful for you reminding him of home.

Привет. Вы умеете читать и писать на кириллице? Я из России. Просто решил в последнее время изучить Серпско-Хорватский язык. Я до недавнего времени думал,что это один и тот же язык,а оказалось в них есть различия. Заметил я,что,например, Сербы чаще употребляют слово после-, а хорваты-након. В Русском языке например нет слова након, а есть слово -после и оно значит то же что и в Сербском. Например интервью после матча или я приехал в Россию после 30 лет жизни на другом континенте. Пожалуйста, скажите как правильно говорить в Сербии и Хорватии это слово?

Я с начала думал это один язык, а оказалось в нем довольно много слов различных, особенно больше слов разл.в Хорватс. , я слышал что они некоторые слова изменили после распада Югославии по полит.причинам,чтобы тем самым больше отличаться от Сербов,т.к отношения между странами не самые теплые. А вообще эти Южно-Балканские языки ,как и например Болгарский оч похожи на Старо-Русский и если бы не было реформы языка в 20 веке в России то это был бы почти один язык наш общий Славянский.
