    Instead of buying this "Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly" I rather getting ripped off by the dealer for several reasons. Those Quick-Struts are never like the original struts. They're either make the front of vehicle higher or those new springs are too thick and make the vehicle worst than the bad struts.

    @@jgrm4443 Exactly!!! I had that same problem with a mechanic a few days ago about the springs on my car. He trying to tell me I should use the quick struts and I told him I wanted to use my original springs. I'm getting another mechanic to do it.

    Hey, well done. You clearly showed all the correct steps. Showing the two ways to get the job done was a great idea too. Most of us DIYers know to always check and recheck the torque specs so when you didn't go totally through that part in detail, we understood. Thanks for doing the video.

    The top bolt on the bottom of the strut should have a slight cam on it for alignment. If you mark the position of the bolt head you can get the alignment roughly where it was originally. Of course, you still need to have the alignment done, but it should help to keep things close.

  • @twocanines8150

    @twocanines8150

    Not always. You need to check before you pull it all apart. Some, like the Chrysler Town and Country I did last week do not have any way to adjust for camber and are just straight round bolts. If the one you are doing has camber adjustment mark their placement so you can put them back where they were and save your alignment setting. DON'T Use a paint marker, it will come off. Strike a chisel mark into the steering knuckle and the bolt to be sure.

    First part of your video is the disassembly of the strut. When putting the strut back together I would recommend replacing the strut mount & strut boot with new parts, since the strut mount has bearings inside helping pivot your cars steering system & the boot would help keep dirt off the the strut rod leading to wearing out the seals inside the strut. Also torque the strut rod nut 44 ft lbs, the 3 strut mount nuts 37 ft lbs & bottom 2 steering knuckle bolts 37 ft lbs.

    Enjoyable and informative video both ways. Your voice is soothing and the music is not too distracting. Unfortunately, plan to buy the whole assembly since it's so rusted except the coil spring. The rubber piece is worn and torn on both front side and driver side there are 2 zip ties ( just discovered after a DIY brake job) holding the strut bottom in place.

    we have all at sometime , forgotton to loosen that nut prior to pulling the strut..LOL wwhat I do is use the long bar from my 2 ton jack that you use to raise it up...I just position the bar between 2 of the 4 bolts on the top strut mount ..gives me plenty of stability to keep the mount from turning with the strut laid on its side and the bar keeping the mount still.

    Hello. I liked the video. Love your dogs so calm. just a small note about the bolts with the serrated shank is they are for camber adjustment. You should index mark them and put them back exactly as they came off or you may see premature tire wear otherwise get an alignment after front end service. Just a suggestion especially if you install new tires you want to last..

    No problem. That was my first comment for any video I watched. Wasn't sure what to expect. I think it's great that you deal with the job at hand without a long story and still show how it happens for real and not turn off the camera for a retake even though you did the other side. Thanks for the fast response. James.

    Here in the UK this job is a nightmare with seized bolts due to our bad weather & salt on our roads in winter. When re assembling always use a dab of copper grease for easy removal next time.

    it's not unsafe- in some cars, it's easier to wait until the weight of the car is on the strut, then tighten the top nut down. As long as the nut is threaded down to the point where the threads of the strut rod show even to, or above the top of the nut- you're fine.

  • @oxmanagain

    It's better to be a little scared then overly confident because you will do your best to make sure things are right. Just take your time and make sure the spring compressors are on tight and aim the strut away from you or anybody else. Watch a couple of videos until you sure then just take your time. Thanks for watching and if you have any question feel free to ask.

    Yo Bro you are the best I've seen yet so many people skip steps on strut assembly which is easy and not realistic or half at best, my knowledge speaks and my money speaks so I like to know all I can and not use so much money to replace already made struts. And if you are putting on fully compressed strut ask yourself how they do that, I know as a growing mechanic and being dormant for a great I want the grass roots how to replace a strut b/c you may be in a situation where all you can get is struts and now what your stuck like chuck, and may later pay more to a mechanic to stab the flesh out of your body, ems, some of y'all better chill and get this knowledge and be glad this man gave us the piece free of charge, organized, and very descriptive. Good piece ma dog you DA Man-Da-mechanic!!
