Quick question what size does the screw driver have to be or does it not matter

For the hole to remove the airbag? Doesn’t really matter, you could also use the same Torx T20 that you’ll later use to remove the shifters.

Would the available paddles for the G06 X6 be compatible with the LCI 2024 models? I am looking for some carbon ones and hope it's the same fitment.

Yes they are compatible with your vehicle. Also available in pre-preg carbon fiber.

For the 2022 X3M do you need to remove the steering wheel? I see for the first bit you left the wheel on, but for the last bit the wheel is off.

No you don’t. It was just easier to film/demonstrate. But you can easily do it without taking the wheel off.

Which pin exactly? The ones for the airbag? If so, I understand, it is quite tricky at first to find the right angle and spot. You should keep the screwdriver around a 45 degree angle and push it straight in. Once you feel a resistance that’s when you know you either found the side of the horn plate or the airbag retainer spring. Start pushing on it until it releases the airbag, i’ve found best to apply a little pressure on the airbag itself with your other hand (pushing it a bit inwards) so it lets loose easier. The new F/G series airbags a lot tighter than in previous models and the springs are stronger, that’s why it is a bit harder to remove.

how long do you wait after disconnecting the battery for it to be safe to remove the airbag I waited over an hour and everything still turns on a runs

In general just a few minutes, ~10 minutes should be enough.

If all you need to do is push a pin out do you really need to remove the air bag and steering wheel?

You don’t necessarily need to remove the wheel, but you need to take out the airbag, as the screws are not visible otherwise, that hold the shifters in.

It’s possible to install paddle shifters without an original paddle shifters from factory?

Yes, but you first need to retrofit the shifters and do some coding.

Is that an x3m 40i cuz I don't have the ability to remove my horn

In this video that is a G21, but the same applies to the X3 as well. On the side of the steering wheel, you will notice 2 indentations where you need to cut through the leather, with a small headed screwdriver or with a sharp knife. Once you have done that you can push a screwdriver through that hole to release the airbag.

Are these strong enough for shifting using just the edge?

Yes, you can shift at the top or at the bottom. They will work all the way.

I punctured through but i am not feeling the spring or latch or whatever to disconnect the air bag?

Yeah it is pretty hard to find it, especially on newer BMWs where the springs are quite stiff. Just keep in mind to keep around a 45 degree angle when pushing the springs in.
