Hello, what do we have to have in mind when it comes to the new airbag? So that it won't make airbag light on the screen?

@@tugaxD23 just disconnect the battery first and you won’t have a problem. As long as you use a compatible airbag, you wont have any warning lights afterward

It’s also possible to remove the airbag by turning the wheel 90 degrees. You’ll then see the clip from behind at the top! Without removing the covers!

Two tips: 1: As others mentioned, turn the wheel 90 degrees so you can reach the *bottom* clip once the steering wheel trim is removed. I'm really surprised Kies never mentions this because this is such a well known way to give yourself more leverage and make the removal a lot easier. The easy way to do this is to turn the wheel first, then disconnect the battery's negative terminal, then begin your work. Once the first clip is removed, you can just muscle the wheel to turn it the other way and reach the second clip. This won't damage the power steering or the wheel. 2: I don't recommend the extended paddle shifters because they're extremely wobbly even when tightened all the way. This is a known complaint that Kies conveniently never mentions. But if you do decide to upgrade the paddle shifters like I did, *be extremely careful* when taking the guide pin out (5:19). I broke mine and can't find a replacement because it's such an obscure part. They get extremely brittle over time. Also, the T20 screws that hold the paddle shifters in place are very delicate. Try not to over tighten them because trust me, they will snap.

You should try retrofit the adaptive cruise system!

I think bigger paddle shifter look better, but that’s only possible with extensions. Like what’s the point of getting carbon fiber paddle shifters if you can’t even see them😭

Much easier to remove the wheel by turning the wheel, clockwise and anti-clockwise and releasing the clip with a flat blade screw driver. That's typivally how I've taken airbags off many VWs. Great fun video!

Those interior upgrades are a touch! So I already have the steering wheel you upgraded to, is there a way I can take off the original paddle shifts without taking of the steering?

Thanks for this video. I just did the m sport steering swap. I was wondering besides paddle shifter coding is there any other coding we should be concerned about like airbag etc.? I did have a "chases stabilization" warning come up on my test drive.

What all parts did you need to order to upgrade to the MSport steering wheel? Is it just the wheel, airbag, and multifunction buttons? My Sport Line has the paddle shifters and I'm wondering if you can carry those over to the MSport steering wheel.

Can the kies dry carbon paddles work with the sport steering wheel (non-msport)? Im assuming it will since i have the same paddles as the ones you switched from, but just wanna make sure. They would be a sweet upgrade to the sport steering wheel

I did this upgrade on my 2013 328i F30. After installing, upward shift worked but not downward. I rechecked the wires and everything looks fine. Any guess what it would be ?

What do I need to purchase to upgrade to the M Sport steering wheel if I have the standard steering wheel in my 2016 BMW X4. Do I need to find one with everything included? Buttons, airbag, everything? Would it be as simple as plug and play?

Does airbag error light come on on the dashboard after refitting the airbag and did you need to clear errors after reseating the airbag?

Actually, you must wait 5 to 10 min after disconnecting the battery before messing with airbags. You never know if the electric circuit in any car has a capacitor to work as a back up for safety emergencies.

@@domkraggp9944 American OEM's use backup systems to power up after disconnection and record data for about 100 ms after a deployment. I am not sure about the specs for European vehicles.

@@wysiwyg2489 Has this actually been confirmed anywhere for American OEM BMW airbags? I removed mine yesterday right after disconnecting the battery and had no issues. That said, I do think it's better safe than sorry.

@@ShockwavesFTW Hi there, my recommendation is based on 20 years of working experience with airbags. I don't know details about BMW airbag circuits but most USA OEM's include a capacitor inside the restraints control module (RCM) to trigger the airbag as a backup, some not. As prevention, the best is to wait for 10 min so any capacitors loads discharge completely and you discharge yourself any static current you may have, specially in winter and when working on a rubber mat. It takes about 400mA to deploy an airbag. Take care!

Wow, cool tutorial! Question; if i want to upgrade the wheel on a base model manual to the msport wheel, do i have to look for anything specific or will a msport from a manual model work? Mine's a pretty stripper model, but some mods will spruce it up a little.

Hi, if I missed the indentation on the steering wheel and is it possible to install it not in lined with the column? I mean not a huge miss inlined but just maybe one or two teeth? But the steering wheel will still be able to put in?

@@justinbuiceI see. Thanks man. I am having a steering centering force problem. The force is stronger from left to center than from right to center. And the steering is crooked a little towards right. Seems like the zero position of the steering is also slightly towards right makes the EPS gives more power trying to back to the center from left. Just did alignment, don't know if the incorrect alignment is the reason or not centered installation of the steering wheel which is not possible as you said.

My car F30 is now at 130,000 miles. Being in a 4cylinder. I am still deciding whether to go to a 340i with the latest infotainment or a next-gen model with 4 cylinders still. Driving it for so many miles makes me want to drive the next-gen but I also want a bigger engine...The m340i is still expensive. Fortunately, my maintenance is perfect and I have modifications that make this 328i a car that can last to 200,000 miles, Timing chain and all.

it's only a visual upgrade. If you have the base steering wheel, the M sport wheel is thicker and easier to grip

just the steering wheel made a huge difference

How with the airbag?

I found the solution to my problem! I have replaced a regular sportline steering wheel with an M Sport steering wheel then the steering wheel heater stops working, I first thought that the heater in the steering wheel was broken, so I switched to a working steering wheel, still does not work !? but then I know that M sport steering wheel must be coded via BimmerCode because it does not have the same electronic box in. if you have bought a used car and do not check that it works it may be that before the owner has changed the steering wheel and not coded it. Sorry for the typos, my english is not good 😊

Disconnecting only the negative is not the way I would do it, when working aircraft you always disconnect positive side so you don't accidentally ground out to the airframe. If the positive is still connected any negative that touches the ground/frame of the car you are going to get a short.

It looks simple, but I'd pay someone to do this for me...ha ha...any shops in the Detroit area?

Those P3 vent gauges are pretty cool but at close to $400 it's a bit of a rip off when you consider how much simple HUD display costs (around $20 to 50) and can show more or less the same info. I get that they are custom fit but even so shouldn't really be anymore than around $150.

It's definitely pricey, but you're paying for a finished product that's tailor made to fit the car. Not to mention the control module is programmed to show only the most important parameters, that way you don't have to scroll through literally hundreds of parameters to find the one you're looking for. At the moment, I don't think there's any competition for this exact product which is no doubt reflected in the price

@@justinbuice I get what you say with regards to the benefits of the product but you are talking around 10 times the price or put it another way 1000% more for those privileges. If it was 2 or 3 times the price or even 4 times maybe but as much as I love my car and like to do mods I just couldn't justify that kind of price difference for the benefits returned though I can understand why some might buy it.
