Learn How God's Anger and Love Work Together

What does it mean to say that God is slow to anger? In the Bible, God’s anger is a just response to human evil, which is motivated by God’s justice and love. In this video, we’ll explore God’s anger and justice in the biblical story and see how it all leads to Jesus.

Yeah thats usually the christian message give give give or sell sell sell. It kind of makes me sick that you are always and I mean all christians are always bringing money into the faith yet god talked about love of money and its evil more then anything. He also talked about hell too which everyone has little balls about. Look again God can do wonders he doesn't need money stop defiling the name of god with begging. DO you not have enough money already with your 70,000 $ a year life and your mountains of tithes. I make a 1000$ a month and I never ask anyone for anything. Peace. Sorry it just makes me kind of upset every time a message of Jesus (give give sell sell) didnt Jesus flail in the temple . I am from Tsawwassen btw and again is gay ok? Im frustrated at polished christians so answer my question would you please.

I started drinking when I was 16. I would drink at parties, but I also started drinking alone because I was unhappy, and I was in a lot of emotional pain all the time. My mom was very aggressive when I was younger, and my brother hated her and so did I. He started hanging out with shady people, he started failing all his classes, he was never home, and my parents fought all the time. I also ran away several times. I was always trying to figure out a reason as to why I was here or what the purpose of life was. So, I started looking at different philosophies, religions, and beliefs. When I was 18 after I was hungover, I got on my knees and I prayed for the first time. I asked if God was real that he would show me he was real because I couldn’t take it anymore. I was crying when I prayed for this. At that moment I felt a presence come over me like a wind. It was barely noticeable, but it was unlike anything in my life I had experienced up until that point. I was surprised when I felt it and I remember saying “what was that?” after that experience I pretty much forgot what happened and kept partying, until my senior year when I got arrested. After my arrest, my parents lost all their trust in me and I was expelled from high school. I was told never to come back to my school. At that time, I felt afraid and hopeless. That’s when I started looking for God, and I prayed that he would reveal himself in my life and that he would give me signs. My prayers began getting answered so consistently that I couldn’t deny that God was doing something. It was mysterious and compelling. I ended up in Church and started reading the bible hours a day. I stopped hanging out with all my other friends because they were continually getting arrested. I was able to forgive my family and myself and to ask to be forgiven. I noticed how at Church people were judgmental and how they formed cliques but were afraid to be around anyone else different from them. It increased my faith because I realized Jesus was not like that and ever since I was young, I saw people as people regardless of who they were. After a while, it’s like I could see God's presence was in my life and then it felt like he wasn’t, and then he was, and then he wasn’t. One day I woke up and felt more depressed than I ever have in my entire life. I felt like I was dying on the inside. That night I prayed, and I said, God, I don’t see my life five years from now I'm going to die Jesus save me Lord, please save me. I was weeping when I said it and when I asked him to save me, I felt a presence inside of me like a heartbeat, and I felt it once like a pulse, and I said Lord please save me and I felt it again even stronger. It was like radiance. When I woke up the next morning, I had transformed everything felt brand new like I was a kid again. All my fears and all my racing thoughts everything was gone. I looked at my hands, and I said this can’t be real, it's impossible. When I looked at myself in the mirror, I saw a different person. I started praying, and the holy spirit became entirely real to me; it was washing over me and inside of me. It was total love and peace, and I heard a voice but not an audible one, it was an inner voice. It said I am with you; I love you, I will never leave you, it’s done it’s finished. That was May 3rd, 2009, and ever since then I’ve followed God, I have seen many things change and many things I know wouldn’t have changed without faith and belief. I know what it’s like to be lost to feel you have no hope. Don’t ever think you’re stuck, or life can’t change because it can. My mom is a Christian now, Its night and day. Some of the things that went away during that period were severe anxiety and my addiction to alcohol. I’ve seen and experienced so many things that are miraculous and seen how God has worked in my life. When we ask God to forgive us for what we’ve done and turn away from our sins and wrongdoings and we believe in Christ's sacrifice everything changes. His word says if we confess with our mouths that Jesus is Lord and believe in our hearts that he died and rose again we will have eternal life but not just life after death but abundant life in the present. Our sins are erased not only past, present, and future but our burdens and fears are lifted also. Our thoughts, our minds, our hearts, our souls are transformed and united with God and we know his spirit lives in us. If you seek, pray, and knock you will know JESUS IS KING!!! HE LIVES!

Yes indeed Eric! This is particularly true of atheists. They can’t reconcile a loving God with the evil of mankind. Yet they also believe Him to be a violent megalomaniac at worst or a useless and impotent fraud at best. Which is which? If one wants to reject the divine and place faith in humanity, there can be no reasonable empirical conclusion, other than believing mankind evolved to be evil. We have proven we cannot be trusted to be good and civil. If one wants to accept the divine, then one must accept the consequences of sin, even if it seems so brutally barbaric to our modern sensitivities.

@@agiixoxoxoyou making this comment makes me happy. Saying that we are loved makes me feel happy. I hope god blesses you and your family. I’m fasting right now, and as a teen who is trying to become closer to him. It’s hard. But I want to pray so the devil doesn’t get in the way. So me, or my family isn’t sad or fight. I still have a long journey with a relationship with god because I drifted away from him. I want a connection so he can guide me to what’s right instead of doing things my self and suffering. I also want him to help others too that I think need him too. But if it’s ok can I ask you a question? Is it ok for me to want god to help me because of things I’ve went through and is still struggling with? I’ve seen people do the same but then they act like they don’t know god and it makes me sad. I don’t want to do the same.

He wades through time slaughtering men, women, and babies…he loves killing babies…innocents, just revenge for nothing. He’s continually angry at one person, and requiring the entire tribe or family to pay with their lives. The killing never stops. patient... PLEASE READ CAREFULLY: Jesus himself use this Psalms to prove he is the son of the Most High. Psalms 82 God takes his place in the divine assembly; In the middle of the gods he judges. 6 “I have said, ‘You are gods, All of you are sons of the Most High. Who will give the Throne to Jesus? - Luke 1:31..named him Jesus 32 This one will be great and will be called Son of the Most High, and "Jehovah God (LORD God The Father)"" WILL GIVE HIM the throne of David his father, - John 10: The Jews said.. but for blasphemy; for you, although being a man, make yourself a god.” 34 Jesus answered them: “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said: “You are gods”’? 35 IF HE(Jehovah) CALLED 'GODS' those against whom the word of God came-and yet the scripture cannot be nullified- 36 do you say to me WHOM THE FATHER SANCTIFIED AND 'SENT' INTO THE WORLD... ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said...‘I am God’s Son’?

Well, except when he wants revenge. Read in Joshua when one soldier kept a coat and some loose change after they killed all the men , women, and babies in the City of Ai. God was really passed. He had Joshua question all 40,000 soldiers to find out who kept Gods shit. After the culprit confessed, God told Joshua to stone him and all his innocent family. What a rational God, eh? God just loves killing babies. Joshua spent his whole time committing genocide against the inhabitants in the “promised land”. They did nothing wrong, but were just living in the wrong place. Gods judgements have nothing to do with morality. He strips all vestige of free thought simply requiring Joshua to kill, kill, kill. I mean, Moses couldn’t enter the promised land for one or two little mistakes. Yet Joshua goes in killing every living thing in sight and plundering all. Scripture is full of these contradictions, but theists continue in their faith, giving up all semblance of rationale and morality, peace, and brotherhood. Incredible!!!

I am so grateful for God's compassion and His willingness to work with me, the chief of sinners. He should have abandoned me long ago, as I blasphemed His good name, and persecuted His children for their faith. One day, I found myself sitting in a jail cell, facing 30 yrs in prison. I had no fight left. No more blasphemes. I begged God to forgive my utter selfishness, and disbelief. I truly meant the words that I was speaking, and God responded right away. It's been 3.5 yrs now, and my life is unrecognizable from the awful man that I used to be. I am healed and whole through my Savior, Jesus Christ!! I am still facing 20 yrs and I am going to plead guilty in 2 days time. I am quite nervous about it, because my earthly judge could give me all 20 of those years if she so chooses. I won't know until the very day I get sentenced. Please pray for me and my family, as losing me would be very hard on them. I will just continue to trust in my Holy Father because I know that He does ALL things well. God bless you (The reader), and also The Bible Project for making such uplifting content for my heart. In the Bible, we read that God gets angry. But why? And what is it that makes God angry? The first time God gets angry in the Bible is not in the garden of Eden, or in the flood story, or even in the ruin of Sodom and Gomorrah. God’s first display of anger is with Moses at the burning bush (see Exodus 4:14). This is significant because it shows that God’s acts of justice against human evil are not always connected with divine anger. Rather, God’s anger is most consistently expressed against his covenant people Israel, precisely because they were entrusted with the responsibility of representing God to the nations (see Exodus 19:1-6). In the Bible, God gets most angry with the people in whom he’s made the greatest relational investment. Also, God’s anger is not a primary character trait. God’s anger is a response to human betrayal and evil, and it’s rooted in God’s justice and love-two key components of God’s very nature. To be angry at violent evil and let that anger motivate the pursuit of justice and restoration, these are good things. And that’s precisely what God is up to in the Bible. His “slow anger” means that he allows people lots of time to change. Pharaoh got ten chances in Exodus, and Moses objected five times to God’s request before there was any anger (see Exodus 3-4). The apostle Paul summarizes this Old Testament message well when he says that God is “rich in kindness and tolerance and slow-anger,” and it’s “the kindness of God that leads us to turn around” (Romans 2:4). It’s this tension between God’s patience, justice, and love that drives the biblical story forward to Jesus. In his life, death, and resurrection, we see God’s love and justice meet together to overcome evil and unleash the power of divine forgiveness and love into the world. All of this and more is packed into the biblical idea that God is slow to anger.

The Lord took me on a journey in getting free from anger. It was one of the most painful journeys so far. It's hard to have a look in the mirror and have to acknowledge our shortcomings, but He is so good and so merciful. Thank you so much, Lord!!

Interestingly, the French metaphor for getting angry is "the mustard is rising in my nose" -- wonder if that has any connection to the biblical phrase, or if it just seems that hot noses are typical of those with hot tempers. But as always, great video and excellent insights. Thanks.

I greatly needed this after the day I’ve had. Panic over possible poisoning and then watching the movie Noah 2016. That movie really rattled me like I can’t explain- I got anxiety from it and came onto KZread to somehow cheer up- and I find this video in my recommends. Sincerely thank you, I needed to hear this after the day I’ve had. God bless you, and I thank him for you. And to anyone reading this, I hope you’re having a good day. And if you aren’t, my prayers to you.

Before, my thoughts are full of fear and hatred, I often feel insecure and ungrateful. One day God give me a hard lesson and I was a very angry and became toxix, I was very egoistic and always want myself only to be happy. But then slowly my mindset change and I feel very guilty to God but He still accept me. Thank you Jesus❤

As a person who had real meeting with GOD I can 100% assure you that GOD is AMAZING. Word's can't describe HIS greatness. I talked with HIM many times and HE was ALWAYS loving, polite, understanding. Never angry. The only moment when HE was a bit "strict" was when I started to treat my sinns like "Nothing happened". HE want's us to understand that sinns are serious. HE also don't like when we don't believe in ourselfs. There were many times when I said: "GOD I'm unworthy to go to heaven". HE always replied: "Just pray and trust me. I will do the rest".

Brilliant! I'm so thankful for you all and your ministry. I never associated the drowning of Pharaoh and his army with just retribution for his earlier order to drown the Hebrew male babies. It perfectly illustrates the principle Paul states in Galatians 6:7, "Do not be deceived: God is not mocked, for whatever one sows, that will he also reap." May God continue to bless your service to His kingdom, and greatly multiply the fruit of what you are sowing in faithfulness and creativity.

I learned that even if God doesn't punish the people in their sins, still Humans are doomed to their destruction by their own choices and worldly desires, so it's terrifying to imagine if God adds His own anger to the people's own self destruction. I thank you Lord God for being patient and slow to anger to me, countless times I hid to you, go my own way and went astray with your prescence and was doomed to my own destruction, But countless times also that you did saved me, Thank you Lord for your mercy, grace, compassion, faithfulness and loving kindness to me.🙏 Thank you Lord Jesus for your sacrifice to the punishments in place of me, truly you are Yeshua -God is my Salvation😭☝️🙏🙌
