QUESTION: I want to hand-embroider on cotton fabric which is going to be made into a skirt (so wearing, washing in future). I will, of course, pre-wash / pre-shrink the cotton fabric before embroidering/sewing. Most videos available are for machine-embroidery, however, perhaps it applies also to hand-embroidery. Can you give me any advice on what I should use as stabilizer?

Good morning, Lesley. I checked the back of the Terial Magic and it states, " Terial Magic is a non-starch stabilizer which means it won't attract insects or leave a residue."

What would be the best option for embroidering on very light material like chiffon and a light polyester? I’ve tried a wash away and it is puckering after I wash it out. It needs to be invisible as it is a worn project.

Thank you, very helpful. I'm a beginner embroiderer and stabilizers are the most confusing. I love Sulky products. A question I have is how to tell the difference between tear away and cut away if the label is not with it. I acquired some from a friend.

Great question! It's like super concentrated starch. When you use it, your fabric becomes paper like. You won't get the same results from standard starch.
