That's an interesting question! We'll ask our coach Thiago to look into it. But let me try to explain it here. I knew if I sold - it refers to the past and imagine that at that time he was contemplating - to sell or not to sell, so it was a possibility, that would be represented by the first conditional, so now, when he's talking about the past, he just changes it it to Past Simple - I know if I see = I knew if I sold.
