Philip Sayce deserves sooooo much more recognition.
It’s so obvious that his main influences are SRV and Jimi, but unlike so many other Stevie clones Philip has his own style and breaks outside of the box. Chris Duarte is another that stand out from others in this genre. Such monster players

@76mstk you're welcome. He's been around forever so there's plenty for you to check out of him
It's high time Fender showed some respect to Phillip and like others have mentioned, a Mother signature strat would be great and far more warranted that certain signature guitars released recently.

Holy shit! Phillip Sayce has to be the best blues player alive!! That was some of the best blues playing I’ve ever heard...and the tone! Perfect blues tone! What a nice guy too. No ego at all. His records are all incredible.

Hi everybody, sorry but I don’t think velocity is a good quality of a bluesman. Except SRV that has a breathplaying, Phil does’nt! He’s very impressive but in few years I think he will change his way to play. More breath, take a break when play dude... expressiveness.
@FaberGT86

@@alfredosantantonio7098 hi, it depends on what you're playing. If you play a slow blues track and make a 200 km/h solo, I agree with you but listen to Alchemy and let me know.

Alfredo Santantonio you can’t be serious. All the greats play fast for the most part. I love Eric Gales and all of the other guys too. Phillip Sayce, to me, stands out, along with Eric and pushing the genre forward by having that extreme dexterity and that ability to fly up and down the neck but still be musical. I do not think that Phillips speed hinders his ability to be musical in anyway, in fact, I think it enhances his playing and the music he creates. The guy can sing, play his ass off and he put every ounce of energy he has into his playing.

He's one the players who is consistently good. I discovered him a little too late and kept hitting myself over the head for it. He's right up there with SRV and Hendrix, in fact a few miles ahead in my books.
This guy made me listen to blues-rock again, and incidentally drool on my shirt. In addition, he looks super nice. Thank you Fender for this great video
He's an extremely kind person for how talented he is. That's rare.
Sayce is the bomb. Dude’s playing is pure adrenaline. Love it.
love the combination of exceptional talent combined with humility and a posture of learning - this guys is the real deal
Thanks Fender. Philip is a class act, he comes across as a decent and humble guy and then he turns into a monster when he plays. Really looking forward to his new album coming out tomorrow.

Music brings out honesty…….
I met Phillip once while he was still with Jeff Healey. He came in while I was playing in a casino in Tunica years ago. He was checking us out and so when we went on break, I went over and introduced myself and talked with him for quite a while. He was with Jeff's bassist and drummer so I asked him if they would like to go up and do a couple of songs and he graciously agreed. They killed!! He was the nicest most humble guy I have ever met!! We even exchanged phone numbers and he dug my playing too! Super nice dude and stellar player as well.

Philip is f**ing awesome. Thanks for this video.
This guy is a force of nature.
Man, I just found Philip a couple of days ago. Blown away is an understatement. Very underrated. I saw Stevie play a in Atlanta right as he was blowing up. Listening to Philip is a step back in time. Such a humble and consistent guy. He’s always downplays himself and is appreciative of his success and opportunities. He feels the music so deeply and falls into the guitar immediately. Such a talented man. Hopefully he can get down to North Carolina at some point. Much love to all🤙🤙
ive only just discovered phil, amazingly after being a huge hendrix and srv fan. hes incredible and such a genuine and nice guy
So wild that his playing started to relic that cabinet behind him
Fender I really respect and appreciate what you have done for musicians during this crazy time. My next guitar will be a fender for sure. Thank you from the bottom of my heart
Love how he reliced his cupboard too.
He's just as good as SRV was back in the day, SRV after recovery still has him beat at times, but give it a decade and he'll be better than all of them. Good health Philip, you're a blessing to all of us!

SRV died when he was 35. =/ Who knows how his playing would have evolved and improved had he been able to live another 10 years? I have no way of proving it, so I’m speculating; but I doubt there would be any where near as many clones of him. Lol. (I don’t think Philip is a clone), but he might want to ditch the Stratocaster occasionally and try different guitars more often). It’s hard not to be reminiscent of SRV and Hendrix if you use Strats most of the time especially if they are big influences.
Philip Sayce is the man. Thanks for the video. Philip is such a huge influence to so many (including myself, of course) within the world of blues. Monster player. Check out the video of him playing a THR. He can make anything sound amazing.

A really great player & a gentleman..
What a superb player
Holding the guitar close to your chest is actually pulling your elbows in to your body for more strength and accuracy. Called the connection theory in golf and other sports. Philips style and other aggressive blues players is athletic. No doubt!

Was that cupboard reliced in the custom shop or has it been on the road with Philip do you think?

Monster, true strat sound..
What a monster‼️🧨
Fun fact: Philip Sayce was born in a small Welsh town called Aberystwyth. 18 Miles from Machynlleth, where Led Zeppelin wrote (not recorded) Stairway to Heaven and Led Zep lV at Bron-y-Aur cottage. Music is in the heart of the land, and so are the Welsh male voice choirs...it's in the blood.
Funny to hear Philip saying that his Princeton reverb is the perfect amp for home use. It's incredibly loud 😲

OMG!!! Burning it up!!!
You kind folks at Fender don't you think Philip deserves a signature strat? You've done that for guitarists who had half his prowess and tone. Wise up and get down to it.
Well I've been playing blues for about 3 months and I thought I was starting too get the hang of it lol.. now I see how much I don't no.
He plays with the veracity of the late great, Rory Gallagher!!!
30:47 gotta learn every note of that
The Welsh are incredible musicians!
I missed this
What is the difference about turning your amp around and mic the amount? Is it better?
Philip can play a 2 by 4 with strings and still sound great
Well they edited your video very good Eugene to make it sound like you didn't stop and correct yourself about four or five times during the intro
Qué sonido tiene esa guitarra meu deus !!!!!!!!!
Why is that other guy even talking ? Just let Phillip do his thing!
Man the cure for depression.....
What about the Chris Duraute Fender Strat !
Oh God, remember when Dani was a feature. With her drop d bar chords. Chord*
Philip... Who does he pass the torch to ?
And as is so often the case we're tuned down a half step/tone...
Thats how strat must be played

What string gauge does phill use on that 63 strat.. i wonder ?
