Learn 3 Soul Bass Lines For The Price Of 1: Using Major Triads Create Soul and R&B Bass Lines
Learn how to create bass lines using major triads for soul and R&B songs. Bass players including Duck Dunn, David Hood, and more have used this approach to build easy bass parts for records from Fame studios and Stax records. In this lesson, we learn 3 bass lines for the price of 1 to get us started playing "In The Midnight Hour" by Wilson Pickett, "Tell Mama" by Etta James, and "Turn On Your Love Light" by Bobby Blue Bland.

Simple lesson but very useful ... and cool! 😎
If you play this in straight 8th notes you have the verse of "Space Cowboy" by the Steve Miller Band.
Hi Ryan.. I agree, another great lesson.. thanks for your time on all your Bass lessons.
i agree with all of these other fine folks here . i love watching your videos and the way you can tie in theory without us even realizing it .
Outstanding! Good lesson for groovin’ those blues😎
Merci beaucoup, this helped a lot...for my left hand piano. I had to quit playing the 3/4 bass since I have shoulder problems and can't aggravate them. Your lessons apply equally well to the 88s and I'll put it in practice. I hope you're playing pain free, I have a video of my low back exercises that take 30 seconds a day. But they have to be done every day. Oh My Aching Bach. And there are several treatment techniques for the shoulders and hands that could interest bass players.
Great Lesson Ryan🎶🎶
Another brilliant lesson.
Nice lesson! Cool with the different position options, including open string versions.
Great lesson as always! I like the way you connect a simple theory/technical exercise with a musical baseline. Keep up the good work

Great lesson Ryan. Love your channel. BTW, I'd love to hear that Starbass through you Aguilar rig for one of your lessons.

Making bass lines- I was working on that tonight…
Hi, simple but still very interesting ! Would you know what are those pickups ? Thanks

They're Aguilar 4P60s.
Nice work as always. Two questions: 1. what's your signal chain (love the tone) 2. Is that a Warwick Star bass in the background...? Would love to hear that one!

Yes, it is a Warwick Star bass! And I'm just using the bass into a Reddi DI into Protools. I often use the Aguilar head as well for a DI or monitoring... you'll see/hear that in most other videos.
Can we get Dan Aykroyd I Philly?
What other musicians share your curiosity, authority, and willingness to share? There were a couple of well-known bassists in LA that gave $10 lessons before the internet. Your jam is the closest thing to that.
Pfun lesson as usual! Curiosity:Ur amp shows Ur not plugged into it, so HOW are U getting that really nice FAT sound(my fav p-bass sound)????😊
Far out... I'm on a mission from God...
Im thinking Ryan needs a testosterone patch.
