LEAN BITES: 3 WALKS FOR A SUCCESSFUL LEAN JOURNEY

A "bite sized" explanation of the 3 WALK principle to help a successful Lean Journey.
So, my tips might appear simple but I’m confident if you apply these, you’ll experience ongoing sustainable benefits.
I’ve seen it myself, many times over. These tips parallel the keys to becoming a great leader, which I’m sure you’re familiar with.
3 Walks for a successful Lean Journey:
1. Walk behind someone. Engage someone to teach you. A Consultant or Lean expert. As your journey matured their input will decline while you become more self-sufficient. They start as a partner, move towards a coach and finally become a guide.
2. Walk with someone. Walking your journey with someone outside of your organisation. Best done through networking (eg becoming a member of an Improvement Focused Community/Organisation) Networking allows you to see what others are doing and ask clarifying questions to help your understanding.
3. Walk ahead of someone. Use your skills that you’ve developed to teach someone outside of your organisation. In the process of teaching someone, you also get a chance to hone your own skills and strengthen your understanding of what’s being shared. Some see this walk also as a way of giving back to the improvement community.
I’ve seen that these 3 WALKS keys have helped teams, organic growth Lean in their organisation.
I’m sure you’ll find this demonstration very helpful.
