Leaking Window A/C indoors (How to fix water leaky Air Condition)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video we explain how to fix a Window A/C Air Conditioner, which is leaking water into the inside of your home.
First, make sure that the unit is not installed improperly. The air conditioner should be tilted slightly down away from the building, in order for the water to flow to the outside.
If the above is not the problem, then it may be necessary to open up the window A/C in order to remove the blockage, which prevents the water to flow outside.
Check out and follow our step-by-step instructions to fix this issue by yourself. The only tools we used for this repair is a Phillips screwdriver, a pair of safety gloves and a piece of wire.

What a dumb design. My brand new AC unit POURS water back inside since day one. No clogs. It just is very easily overwhelmed. If the idiots who designed this had to live with this lunacy it would never make it to market. I think a class action lawsuit is definitely justified here. There are thousands of complaints on this design in just a few minutes of research.

My air conditioner in my bedroom was leaking and I discovered it after it did some moderate damage to my floorboard under the rug. I now know how to clear the drain and hopefully that’s the problem. Thankfully, the hot days are behind us here in Connecticut for several months so the timing is good but I’m going to service it before I put it away, just the same. Thank you for this straight forward, helpful and useful video, I really appreciate you.

mine is 3 years old and was completely annihilated with dirt and copper water residue. I took it out, took the top off, sucked up mucky dirt and wiped away what the shop vac couldn't get. pushed all the dirt out of the foam hole. I then reinstalled it in the window at about a 10 degree angle. I'll check for water daily until i'm convinced it is happy.

Great video. I fixed the tiny clogged hole with the wire, and I know they did not put a drain hole or two in the rear for "efficiency" but I drilled 2 3/16" holes ( one on each side) as their efficiency means, a penny of electricity saved ( as a sell attraction) and a new air conditioner after a few years as it floods over again and one who does not check KZread has to purchase a new air conditioner, not knowing this clogging problem and the one wire trick. Personally, if this happens again, I will make that hole bigger also. Now working fantastic.

This is a bad design and has done quite a bit of damage to my home. If they know it's going to clog, why not design these a/c units in such a manner that they can be cleaned without taking them apart? Also, the process of removing the a/c unit dumps water all over me and the floor.

I had a nightmare with my A.C.. It started out an issue with my A.C. making beeping noises. I did not want to go through the hassles of unscrewing all those screws to open it. Instead the issue was that it was too sensitive. I had thought that if I just cut out the sensor tip, it would solve the beeping issue. The wire you see at the front panel after you see once removing the air filter screen to clean. My issue became one more added. Now I can not set the temperature on the button. It is stuck at 50 degree for good. This caused the issue of wasting a lot of energy. My normal setting was at the lowest is 70 degree on very hot day outside. Last year, I properly installed my A.C. & there was no issue at all. This year the same A.C. was not installed & sealed up tight. I have a condensation that leaked from the Top & Bottom Front. I got 2 (16 gallons) buckets that I emptied out daily. My Floor was flooded when I did not know. I could not figured where it came from because before it was that a home invader crook had came inside & pour some kind of jelly to clogged the drainage hole. I spent 15 hours cleaning everywhere on the unit & searching KZread videos on my model & search videos as to what to fix. I got all cleaned up. And for 24 hours the Beeping had stopped. Then I was out about doing my daily living the next day. The beeping noise had returned. I asked myself what could be the problems this time? But then the way it was beeping made me suspected that my intruder neighbor must have came in & stolen my remote control. I searched for the remote control. I got really upset & went out screaming out loud & cursing bad. I screamed for my neighbor to return the remote & threaten to call the police & make a report. The beeping stopped 24 hours. Then started the next day. I would continued to screamed out loud with curses. The beeping sound sounded like someone was doing it. I went online to assured myself that I was right to suspects that a home invader crook came inside my home & took it. I learned that day when searched & learned that the remote can be controlled up to 20 feet. Then the next day an event unfolded that allowed me to know which of the neighbor who actually stolen the remote. By now am sure who was pressing my remotes. For since the beginning of June this year to present day I was bothered daily & 24/7. When I moved near it would beeped. When I am away it would stopped. I would leave my resident to go out to live my days. The same crook came into my resident. He removed the Forms I installed to stop air flows. He took them with him so I would not suspects. I knew he would returned so I took some picture of what I did. The fact that I can hear the outside told me it was the same crook. He caused a different kind of leaks. I reinstalled it again to make it tills toward outside should he returned again. He came in again & caused a different place & kind of leaks. Three Buckets I used but the water never flows in where I saw it came out. My floor was total damaged. Now it leaked from the top front & where he last came to do. I thought in a month when I takes it off search as to where it came from & I will removes the speaker. I did search YT for the speaker but chosen not to touch it again. Today the crook made a video on why it leaked. Both videos was correctly titled but shown other issue instead. I did a search again @ I found this. But my issue was not coming out due to this issue. I did a video tape to keep for future checking the inside so I never have to open it again to checked. In learned that it has no such hole on either side. Last, I decided to pause for next time when I took the unit for when I will takes out the speaker.

My problem is I live in a rent house. But I do Commercial Electrical work myself, and shamefully I haven’t delved much into my window units. I have 5 of them. 2 of which are leaking a lot of water. I keep off most of the day lately but when I leave it on, it soaks a beach towel in less than a day. Problem is I feel I could fix it, maybe it’s the coolant that needs replenishing. Maybe it’s something worse. Because it’s a rent house I feel I shouldn’t since I’m alone and it can go wrong. My landlords are very nice, and active. Have cleaned them though only once in the 3 years I’ve been here. Of those 3 years I think they’ve replaced the coolant 1 time. About a year ago now. I literally just finished cleaning mine, and as soon as I started clearing the inside drain channel, water from the front started draining to the back. It was a wonderful moment! :D

Dude. This video did NOTHING to actually fix a leaky window ac. It was just "here's how to take it apart and see where the water goes". Absolutely no information on how to fix it if the water isn't going where it's supposed to.

Not plausible for most people, such as people who cant get it out of the window. Like me.I cannot see that you changed a thing, ran a coat hanger? I bet yours still leaks. My unit is new & is dripping & is at a good angle never had condensation like this new GE Unit- Buy Fridgedaire Maybe.

I don't think his unit was leaking. He just demonstrated it to show how to do it. I just did the same process. And the channel was indeed clogged. As soon as I cleared it, water began flowing to the back.
