The thing i like about these trades is that it only effects the next 2 years either way its not like 3 or more years and with all the cap space we will have going forward makes up for it

As a Patriots Fan, I can say it all comes down how the top 30 visits with the top QB goes. If we love Maye, Daniels or a other Player which is worth the 3rd pick, we would stay at 3.

Because if a team thinks that the Vikings struggle year 1 with a rookie QB/Sam Darnold then next years 1st is worth just about the same, a top 10 pick. So you get 11th, 23rd, a 3rd and then top 10 next year? You can get your guy next year and have soooo much more depth. Makes sense for both sides imo

Also NE is in need of way more than a QB. I would rather have a good structure in place and shoot for my QB in a couple yrs. Worse thing a franchise could do would be take a QB and have him struggle and bust because you don't have weapons for that QB to thrive in. At the very least have a decent offensive line. I bet what ever QB that the Pat's take at 3 will bust out. Just because of the team around them

Plus other QB needy teams may still be picking ahead of you and won't give up the pick no matter what the package. Can't predict the future but you do know what's in front of you right now.

@@youthanasia007 You can acquire weapons in this draft and in future years. Those are available all over the draft, in free agency, or through trade. Can't say the same for QB. Josh Allen's top target in year 1 was second year basket case Zay Jones. Didn't kill his development.

@dustinstella6656 every team is doing evaluations on all levels of college. Preparing for future and present draft picks. Like we know Sanders, Ewers and Allar should be top 15 picks (or fringe) based on this year's play. I'm sure there will be a couple other standouts next year that will jump up into the top 15 but as of now those 3 are good selections. You take a need at 11 and 23 this year for NE plus an extra 3rd rounder, you're probably rough next year so then you've got 2 top 15 picks which could be used along with a future 1st to jump to the top 3 easily. It's way more long term value for them

I sure hope this isn't another Hershel Walker deal. We haven't been good at drafting QB's with a few exceptions.

The NE trade you laid out would take the lead from the Herschel Walker trade as the most one sided trade in NFL history. I would recommend firing Kwesi immediately if he gave away three first round picks plus more to move down 8 spots. Likewise - if you are NE, you would be insane not to take that trade.

Not sure I understand what you mean. They wouldn't be moving down for 3 picks, they'd be picking in the top 5. Trey Lance went for 3 number one picks and didn't pan out with the 49rs.

you are correct. I meant moving up 8 spots not down. Either way, its too much to give up what is proposed here at pick 3. I am specifically saying I don't want to do what SF did. Seems like we agree? I think the team should try to move up, but not give up too much. If they need to give up a top pick next year, just take the 11 and 23 and make the team better in that way.@@michaelehlert9

If we were able to acquire JJ we could sign him for 6 years 150 million and 100 greentreed. A guy like JJ is worth every penny , each game the guy plays he averages +120 yards. It be smart to pay JJ first before they pay Lamb and Chase

That is always the haunting thought in these trade deals! How many top drafted QB's have succeeded in the NFL? All those high draft picks traded away in the lost hope of getting a legitimate starter. Makes me wonder, sometimes just let it play out!

OConnell has never developed a rookie QB. He fled Washington when Dwayne Haskins was thrust upon him. Jaren Hall is still a work in progress. Maybe future HOF QBs specialist Josh McCown can work his magic on whomever the Vikes decide to pick. 😅

I believe the Vikings are fine with drafting any of the top 4 qb's because they believe they can work in their system...and to be honest I believe that who can't succeed with the weapons we have...shit darnold might have a career year with us

Plus, another first round pick next year and some later round picks to boot. They have the juice to make a deal happen. Just will they.

2025 draft is irrelevant with how much cap flexibility the Vikes are projected to have. Get your guy this year. Fill holes in 2025 through FA. plus, we might have 3 3rd rounders.. plenty of mid round ammo to still add pieces

I equated the upcoming cap space into my equation. The amount we'll have will offer flexibility, but you still have to convince guys to come here. Even with all that cap space, I'd prefer to keep that 1st. JJettas and Darrisaw will probably account for 45-50 million of the 100+ we're supposed to have, keep that in mind also. @@remmer3380

Yes. Doing great because it could have been a complete rebuild where you lose 2 and a half seasons then get competitive. By that time those option years will be part of the equation. That's when you start letting people go. The Vikings have shredded salaries gradually while being competitive giving us hope. When you rebuild at once you give the fans no hope and they become complacent

No for me. TOO MUCH. If the Chargers would accept 11 and 23 for pick 5 I prefer that. If the Vikings send all those picks for pick 3 and the rookie quarterback starts slowly like most do the 2025 1st round pick could be a high pick.

If I’m gonna give that kind of haul for the #3 pick, I would at least try to add a 2nd round draft pick as well, we need Oline and at least one more cb, it’s a stacked draft this year

The large cap space next year will fall if/when they sign JJ. I remember the Hershel Walker trade and how that helped the Cowboys win super bowls. It didn’t help us win anything tho. I’m 65 and a life long Viking fan but am now a skeptic. I’ve seen it all, but what the heck, swing for the fences. Trading down hasn’t worked, let’s try trading up.

Maye, Daniels or McCarthy and I feel very confident they will be the best QB of the class. With the best support cast for a QB to walk into (of teams needing a QB) it should not be a surprise that they will bet the farm on a QB.

In my opinion since the Vikes made a decision to move on from their QB, then by default they made a decision to go through a retooling year. Trading all that draft QB to trade for any pick outside the top 2 picks is reckless. They should stay with the QB they have and use the their two FRPs to build a roster.

I just hope we not trading up for McCarthy. Given we had a better vet in the room he could learn behind sure so it’s gotta be for Maye or Daniels. Otherwise stay where we are and get Penix as he can play now. It’s just too much draft capitol for me. McCarthy does have a great ceiling and is at the perfect age just don’t want him learning behind Darnold whose confidence I’m sure has been broken

The Patriots & Cardinals both need many pieces. The Vikings did alot in free agency & setting themselves up for sustainability in a division where they will need it with all the teams loading up & getting better in the future. JJ has an attitude that may make him expendable. If they do move him & replace him with another JJ as QB they could get a top WR to team with Addison. Five years from now this could really help them to be a better well round team. 😮

What any team should consider is that they and the Vikings will probably be drafting in the top half next year. So imagine getting 2 fursts this year and then having 2 high draft picks next year!

Three 1sts and a 3rd is too much just to move up if you ask me. I'd see if the Chargers would trade for the 5 spot and if not then just stay put at 11 and see if any of them fall to us. Acting out of desperation rarely works out well

ALl Drake has is traits. His film is a train wreck. There is nothing that he does where you say, "Thats the face of a franchise." # He was mediocre in a horible conference. He is a bust looking fo somewhere to happen.

My biggest Kwesi fear is that he trades a lot of capital for the 4th best QB in this draft. He traded soooo much for #3 for the 49ers for a QB that is no longer on the roster. I actually like JJ McCarthy, and hope that IF he is the 4th QB that he excels, but I have fears of looking back and seeing who we missed at 11, while Penix is crushing it. Warranted or not, that's my fear.

Vikings should sit tight and if McCarthy isn't available at 11, Pennix is likely an option at 23. Hopefully, a year in SF for Darnold has exercised some demons. Can't be much worse than starting a career with Jets and Panthers.

I'm cool with McCarthy he's got more swagger than Maye, can throw on the run, throw across his body, was well coached, comes through in big games and is a leader". I'll take McCarthy but won't sell the house for him. And don't be so quick to underestimate Darnold. The guy had to play for the Jets and Panthers back then and his stats were not at all horrible. He may surprise you all.

I believe they brought in Darnold to be the starter. Their draft qb will sit and learn. We have great coaches and even Darnold can enlighten a young qb with his experience

Coming from a Vikings fan, I would do both of those trades to get our guy. I also happen to hope it is Drake Maye. As long as the trade never includes Justin Jefferson I’m down at this point

Viking may want to send a massive haul, but the fact is the Patriots need a QB themselves. Brissett is OK for a year but then what. Washington needs a QB unless they feel Penix or Nix are viable options at 11 I just don't see it. Arizona is drafting MHJ and have the next Larry Fitzgerald., at best I can see 5 with the Chargers.

@@johnswanson3741 The 2 teams at 4 and 5 don't need a QB. 1. Caleb - Chicago 2. Daniels - Washington 3. Vikings - Maye or JJ 4. Az - MHJ 5. Chargers - Nabers 6. Giants - Maye or JJ Now if Viking trade with Az or La then I could see it. If the Giants want a B they will move it.

I would like to keep our 2 #1s and get whichever qb is at 11,then get an edge rusher at 23. The coaches can work with whoever.

Zero chance pats do this . 11 is too far down. U miss the top qbs top lineman top WRS. A franchise QB is priceless especially someone built like maye who is big and I hafta be to play here and in New York and buffalo in frigid temps and snow/sleet. Maye or Penix Jr will be very successful with the Vikes. They can acquire Penix Jr without a trade. They will need to move to get Maye.

Trade up saying we are taking a QB a snag MHJ.

Every team in the NFL needs an offensive line. At least that is what they say in the pre-season magazines! The #1 thing the Vikings must do is avoid injuries to their star players. We are probably going in the right direction by getting rid of some age and getting youth. All players should be jogging during the off-season and doing general conditioning. Then, during the season, we must make frequent substitutions. All players on the roster will probably play by the end of the season regardless, so get them ready for that! (Go for it on 4th down, but do it judiciously.)

As a Wash fan, I would hope they would do it. The fan base is so used to drama and hype that crumbles, we would LOVE to se an owner/ Coach build an actual powerhouse then add a QB. Commanders wont "compete" for at least a few years. Why not get the trenches and skill positions fixed before throwing a "franchise" QB in to get hurt...............again, and again(Our history)?Getting serious young talent is a must, we have too many 1 and 2 year deals with no set cornerstones.

I'd do your trade for #2 for Jayden Daniels but the commanders already have a lot and just love JaydenDaniels. Sounds like the scouts love Maye. I am betting the Giants mess it all up and trade up to 4 for JJ McCarthy and the Vikes get shut out on qbs this year.

I dont think that smart move on Vikings part but I dont think Patriots would accept that offer since they also need qb as well.

The Vikings almost surely have at least a verbal deal in place. They don't make the move to get #23 without a pretty high degree of confidence they can get in the top 3.

Just give them next year first for Maye, besides we will have around 100 million to spend

Vikings offer really isn't that great considering one of the first rounders is #23. That's approaching 2nd round value. The Pats shouldn't even think about trading down unless the Vikings offer both firsts this year, the 1st next year and possibly even a 2nd.

I don't think the Pats will do it. They need a QB. And if they move down to 11, they don't know who's going to be there, there's a very high chance JJ is gone by then, he probably will be. They can't take that gamble if they want JJ. So if they trade down, that means they aren't trying to find their QB of the future, which they desperately need

this is all fine speculation...but what about all of the love Kwesi and crew are showing JJ McCarthy right now?!

Careful what you wish for. Are the Vikings willing to draft Jayden Daniels in case Washington drafts Drake Maye? You'd give up less to trade for the 5th pick and draft JJ McCarthy.

Only trade I'm accepting if I'm the Pats us 11/23 and Jefferson...otherwise don't call, I'm taking May or Daniels whichever falls.

If I'm the Patriots I wouldn't trade #3 pick unless im getting JJ. #11, #23 and JJ is what it would take.
