Great to hear this comparison for a general idea of the sound signatures of each amp paired with these speakers.

First of all, I really like your channel so keep up the good work. I do think these sound comparisons are valuable so hoping for more to come🙂 I use AKG K712 PROs and my old companion Austrian made K601s for listening. I do have to somewhat agree with matytinman, I would describe recordings as ok and far from excellent. Maybe a microphone upgrade in the future would not be a bad idea, just my humble opinion. Some channels do offer some serious audio quality in these kinds of videos. Thank you for all the content so far😉 PS: between the two, I would pick Leak Stereo 230. To me a bit more natural sounding with better bass, I would however add a bit of treble on tone controls. I pressume both had tone controls on "0".

A was deffinately better, bass was night and day better with A and that would be my choice if I was in the hi fi shop, I think there was just a slight sheen on the treble with B compared to A, however I do think the treble sounded differnt rather than better, and I reckon if you like ambient electronica A might sound better, however Jazz, 70's stuff is gonna fly on A. Been really looking forward to this one thank you

This one surprised me. I guessed the opposite. Thought the Leak was B because it was softer sounding. A is the better amplifier.

I couldn’t really notice any difference. My reaction is keep whichever one you bought first!

without knowing which was which i always preferred the B for its clarity and definition. A sounded dull and flat by comparison.

Both were average to bad driving those Wharfedale speakers, because those Wharfedales are power hogs.They need at least 150W per channel, super fast and well nuanced amp, which would cost 4x more than this Leak or Marantz.

granted I'm listening via laptop speakers but the Marantz sounds slightly veiled and less airy

Leak is better as it has a very warm sound signature and matches Linton well. Marantz is wee bit bright for my taste. Try to put sound demos of Leak with other speakers you have, towers & bookshelf.

Honestly gonna call this one a draw. They both sound pretty good to me.

leak better for electronic music my opinion

I must be getting old (older)... I actually preferred B (Marantz) over A (Leak) by a hair. Go figure. Thanks for the comparison.

A is better! The Marantz Stereo 70s would be a wise comparison!

I think A was better on my headphones 😊but very close. A a little less digital.

I only hear too boomy bass on both in my headphones. Damn if the Lintons sound that ... I will cancel my order.

@@DieTabbiI have the Leak 230 and Lintons and they are anything but boomy. Bass is clean, tight and goes surprisingly low. If anything, it’s SLIGHTLY recessed.

Good video - and you have interesting gear unlike the majority of HiFi channels. But, the listening test - it's a pointless comparison for everyone except for you (who was in the room physically). We can't hear any difference as it's streamed over KZread, with it's massively compressed 250kbps audio bitrate limit. You may as well have recorded it from an adjoining room! Anyone claiming to hear the difference is just imagining it.

I honestly can't tell but maybe it's because I've been drinking beer all day.

TBH I prefer the Marantz this time.

Audiolab Omnia is half price right now . Get alot more for your money .

Nice upgrade and at a bloody bargain price as well. £450 saved. Now take some of those saving and upgrade your chair, it squeaks more than my wife and that’s saying something 😉😂😂😂

First, bad sound recording. [A] sounds something better, with more soundstage -> Leak 230. With the sound of your recording I wouldn't choose any. That said, you have to try to improve audio capture if you plan to do more in the future. BTW, with my cheap second audio system: KEF Q100 5.25" coaxial modified (much better sound than original) + hybrid Magnat MA 900 (modded too, last week -> better sound now).
