One of my most awaited games of the year. I'm so over minis, I was over the moon when I saw a good looking dungeon crawler with standees instead. Would have preferred tokens, even, but I'm not gonna complain. Can't wait to get my copy, thanks for the video!

That is how you unbox. Love that you didn't peek inside before going live. You should do more of these types of videos. With that out of the way I have to say I also never go All In. But LoD was such a crazy low price I couldn't resist going All In!

Some of the best looking tiles and standees I've seen. The art style is consistent too, which is difficult to pull off when you have hundreds of them.

Wish I had jumped in on the kickstarter but wasn't in a position to at the time. Will definitely keep an eye on a 2nd run in the future. Looks like a very fun game from what I have seen.

The addition of standees is fantastic and a big attraction for me as well as the solo play. Open the box and get playing.

That's a great knife, and the orange looks really sharp. I've had one in brushed stainless for fifteen years or better. Still one of my most used pocket knives.

I'm super excited for my copy to arrive, there's just so much game in the box - not much chance of me getting a sun tan this summer 😀. As you said, it's really impressive that the game is done and being delivered so quickly, especially as most of the design and development work has been done by just one person... massive respect to Michael!

I'm personally super excited for the standees! These will be amazing for this game and many other games like 5 Leagues From the Borderland. I'm now dying to get similar ones for science fiction characters.

This looks like it will be the last big box dungeon crawl I will need.

I like the Lurker and the No-... Plague Demon lol. :) After I saw you mention this game I'm going to watch some more videos on it. Hopefully it lives up to or surpasses the Warhammer Quest games!

A bit late on watching this. But the art on the tiles has been made with Inkarnate. It's a web based tool to make tiles fast with premade art. I use it aswel for my custom tiles.

So looking forward to this.

Btw Daniel, if i may answer your questioning at 16:35, yeah almost every single tile has elements you can interact with

Awesome unboxing, Daniel - the best one I’ve seen so far! Thanks especially for providing a detailed look at the cards. I’m now super-hyped to get my own copy, and if it comes close to Dungeon Universalis in terms of its depth and versatility, then I will be over the moon. I think what may ultimately determine whether I prefer this over DUN or vice-versa, is the strength of the campaign and the setting. Arasca (DUN) feels like it’s own distinct world, with its cultures, history, politics etc. This one seems a tad more generic, although I’d be happy to be proven wrong. In terms of player options, mechanisms, and variety, the two seem roughly equal.

i edited the original post where i was despairing about the lack of contact with the creator of the game. He immediately responded here is my double thank you for "League of Dunegoneers" as well as for "Dungeon Dive" for making this alternative way of communication possible. The creator stated, something had to go awry and he is a wholesome and fantastic guy. I guess mishaps are bound to happen once in a while. THANK YOU !

The pandemic had me cutting back on crowd-funding board games and sadly this was one I cancelled my pledge on. Seeing all this has me questioning my decisions 😆 but I'll be looking for info about a reprint! Nice Lewbowski reference!

In 2018, I bought expensive boxes of terrain tiles for D&D--games like this have made that obsolete! I think the standees have vibrant exciting art. A game box overflowing with components is almost a 2nd Christmas!

Nice video… I don’t know if I’m more excited to actually play LoD or …think about how I can use the components for other things..😅. The amount Of resources in this box for the dollars is mind blowing

I'm seriously bummed I missed this.

Excited for the game. Almost more excited for the big hex map, dungeon tiles and standees. It’s basically a toolbox for playing any kind of fantasy RPG or dungeon crawl as they are largely generic and doesn’t have much in terms of specific iconography or text written on any of it. Love it!

Sometimes more is better, sometimes more just means it takes longer to set up and find the tile while you are playing the game! LoD has a good amount, but it's not too many.

@@TheDungeonDive lots of the tiles have the same art on both sides, so you aren't always having to look at both sides of the tiles to find the one you need as well.

Thanks, was interesting to see. The tiles do look improved over what they originally showed and the standees look pretty good with crazy variety. Not Dungeon Crusade good (which I think sets the bar), but better than Dungeon Universalis. Almost makes me wish I backed this just to use the standees with DUN if nothing else. The doors are cool, I'll buy them if you want to sell them (and paint them up to use with DUN & OrcQuest!)

Dungeon Crusade is one of the best looking games ever.

I'm currently doing daily leg lifts and squats in preparation for the day I have to lift this off my porch and carry it inside. I don't want to pull a muscle.

I think the reasoning was that if one side gets damaged, you still have a good side. Personally, I dislike double-sided tile with different art because it makes so much harder to find the right tile. But then again, I don't like huge stacks of tiles to begin with. I think LoD has just enough, if maybe a bit too many, especially in terms of corridors.

Is there somewhere where I can get standees like those with back and front.

I don't know how I missed this KS. Looks proper sexy!

Wow that's a lot of tiles. I almost got this and then my job ended and yeah end of '22 was not the best but hey, maybe a reprint will happen in 2024.

I backed Universalis when it first hit Kickstarter. My biggest gripe with it is that the translation to English made a lot of the game hard to grasp at first, and that hurdle made my players lose interest quickly. It’s sitting on my shelf all sleeved up, while other crawlers get attention. I can’t wait for my copy if LoD to arrive!

Those item cards would have benefitted from some art. As much as I love the engine behind this game, almost every card is either text heavy or has a table on it. A shame

Art is one of the most expensive parts of a game. They wanted to keep the price down as much as they could. More art is coming though, and it looks great.

Well...my impressions and thoughts about this game: 1) Great game. 2) Great tool box for other games. 3) A lot of things that gives huge replayability. 4) Text heavy cards with no artwork. It will make the game difficult to learn and use on a table. Art helps us remember the card without having to read the text every time midgame loosing time. 5) A lot of text books with many rules and reference that will make the players go search for everything for a long time while playing. 6) A lot of bits and stuff that will make the game cost go way up making it difficult to buy. 7) Big cost + shipping = impossible to buy. Final thoughts: I would suggest to the designer, make a version of the game with printer friendly PDF files and sell them in a low price as a whole game system or just a tool box. I would buy it at a logical price.

They saved a lot of money on art assets, which is good and bad. I'd like more art, but I love the price. Everything you saw was only 135 euros. That's such a great value. The first expansion will come with new cards with unique art. However, you aren't supposed to keep most cards. This is a character sheet game, so it makes sense why art isn't on the cards. The cards are simply for drawing, then you add to your character sheet. The art for the new cards will be for unique weapons, so those you will remove from the game once drawn.
