The biggest issue I had with these guards is snow accumulation in the winter. As the snow began to melt on top of the gutters, water would drip onto the sidewalk and driveway, then refreeze. For maintenance, I would climb on the roof every spring with a garden hose to clean the mesh.

Had Mastershield Gutter Guards installed last March. Haven't really had a significant heavy rain event here yet, but they definitely do clog up with seed strings/pollen streamers and all the other stuff that comes off maples and oaks in the Spring. It gets pretty packed on there, and no matter the guard those roof pitches/valleys are a bare for trapping debris. I'd say brush off or blow off the guards 2-3 times in Spring especially April into May and again mid to late Autumn 1-2 times. I'm hopping by doing that, the guards should fair well. Washing them off with a spray hose once to twice a year not a bad idea especially on the areas/sides of your home that don't get sun as often and therefore shady encouraging moss/algae growth. Mastershield comes now with copper stripes built in, to help control that kind of stuff. But yeah no guard is maintenance free, but the right ones can make the maintenance much more easier and faster.

I was really turned off by the high pressure sales tactics from them. I have a decent sized house, but simple gable roof with 2 porches. They wanted $3800 ish. But the "price good for today only" before the salesman left was $3200. Luckily I told him I have to discuss it with my wife first and would get back to him. I didn't get back to him. Got a text from the salesman a week later saying they would do it for $1680. Still didn't respond because in my head I knew those would have trouble with heavy rains like the video said. I'm glad I didn't go with them. So lesson for everyone else, have only one of you home when the LeafGuard guy comes so you have an "out" and time to think about making a decision. haha.

Alternatively, sign the contract during the high pressure session. And immediately cancel once they leave. That's what I did today 😇 That was the only way I could get the sales person to leave. And in Massachusetts, you are legally able to cancel any door-to-door type sale for up to 3 days for a full refund.

It’s funny how the lates Leaffilter add show that portable building with on one side the roof and gutter is filled with leaves and on the other with the leaf filter system installed there are no leafs! Anyone with have a brain when seeing the commercial will know there is something wrong here, you would think if they wanted to demo a produce and show how it worked they would put some leafs on that side and show the leafs moving with the rain and falling off the gutter but obviously the product doesn’t work or they would show that in the ad!

Thank you for the informative videos. I am not certain what you mean by no gutter guard for valleys. Are you saying do not install a guard on the inside corner where the valley joins the gutter? Or are you saying that even with a gutter guard installed in the corner, the valleys themselves still collect leaves? I checked some of your other videos and could not find clarification. Thanks, Jim

Don’t go with Leaf Filter, and I’m here to say why. I had them installed on my back patio gutter, only, and it was $3,000. That was a year ago this past March, and the gutter is already clogged. So I called them to have someone sent here to fix that. They said it would cost me $97, because my one year warranty was up. So much for their so called “Lifetime No Clogs Guarantee” 😑

I think blowing the leaves off any gutter guards is a given. Sure beats trying to dig out the soil and trees growing in my gutters like I did before. I just had some put on that have a lifetime warranty so if they become restrictive, they'll have to come out and replace them as promised.

I got new seamless wide gutters along with the leaf filter system. They installed both. I live under an oak tree which covers the roof. I would have to take bags of leaves and debris out every year but not anymore!!. These have been a God send to me. Yes, I have to sweep them once a year but so what. I would do it again in a heartbeat. I haggled the price in half. Just do it. Whatever the quote cut it in half. Worked for me. I'm very happy with this system.

This company will not stand behind the promises the greasy sales person will make during their initial consultation!! They said they would replace a portion of my gutter, but then they reneged when they found it was too challenging. So they just screwed their cheap filter over the top of my existing gutter and it took me a full day and hundreds of dollars to fix what they screwed up!!! Then their operations manager totally denied any accountability and washed his hands of my gutter issues they messed up!! DO NOT HIRE THESE THUGS!!! Leaf Filter SUCKS!!

That is a 60 mesh and old product, it looks like that customer needs to reach out to leaffilter for service and possibly switch to the new 32 mesh that allows for better flow. also the maintenance is typical a direct result of roof maintenance, direct transfer of mold, and debris. Leaffilter is a company that stands by their product and is constantly developing the product to excel.

@@Bluesky-bx2ig I just had an appointment with a man from Gutter Guard yesterday. He tried to sell me a system for more than $9,000. I told him the gutters would cost almost as much as the last time I had the roof done, granted which was years ago. He ultimately gave me three different prices, with the lowest being over $6,000 if I opted to keep my same downspouts. I agreed to the appointment when they canvassed after getting a customer in my neighborhood. I referenced a specific problem with the sun room on the back of my house, and this whole new gutter system would _possibly solve most_ of the problem. My house is a 54 year old ranch with a straight roofline in the front and back except for the sunroom. I thought the costs were excessive. I said all of this to say that I think you helped me. Whatever I decide to do, it is probably not going to be one of these guard/filter products.

@@Tes7000 You do realize those prices are outrageous! The materials for a typical house cost less then $200 (downspouts included). They buy a giant roll of aluminum (for about $500 that can do 3-4 houses), and extrude it on site. One man can install nearly a 50' section alone, but that is tricky. I had Gutter Helmet come and give me a $12,500 bid for a very low roof, about 150 feet long. We told them they were out of the universe. He called us 5 minutes later saying they had leftover materials in our color, and dropped the price to $6500. We just hung up on them. The company we hired cost me $1600 with a perforated aluminum gutter guard. Moral of my story, get bids. Find out who does installs for Lowes or HD, and call them direct. GET MULTIPLE BIDS.

Warning:; Leaf Filter personnel ARE NOT GUTTER SPECIALISTS and will screw up your gutter system if you let them. This is from personal experience. They recommended a new section of gutter and/or realignment. They could not provide an adequate plan for replacement, so I opted for an adjustment and they screwed it up. I had to drill holes in my gutter and add downspouts were they could not solve the issue. They did a crappy job putting their cheap caps on my gutter and they resisted heavily when I tried to get them to correct their mistakes and honor their commitments made during the initial in-person consultation! In addition, their story change from the initial estimate when they came out a second time. Do not use this service!!!!!! Seattle area...

In the video the algae was not resting on the gutter guard I actually had to peel it off it was lodged to the screening. The point of the review was not to talk bad about your gutter guard or the micro guard but to inform the customer that the micro guards 100% needs to be overtime washed off, MAINTAINED. We have worked with almost every micro gutter guard on the market "this will vary depending on the homes location". The review and any reviews posted are actually REAL reviews unbiased, we show actual results:)

@@Everythinggutter You say in your other videos that all gutter guards need to be maintained, including your preferred perforated aluminum guards. I'd much rather spray/brush the mesh guards every 1-2 years with an extension from the ground than go up a ladder to clean debris like thousands of oak catkins out of your preferred recessed guards, and occasionally have to unscrew it to clean shingle grit and other dirt out of the gutters because they fit through the holes. Honestly, you lost me as a reviewer the second you said "this review will apply to ANY micro mesh gutter guard"... you're basically (and sometimes outright) saying that mesh design/angle/hole size/material/etc makes zero difference. And if you ask me, for a gutter guard that has had Zero attention paid to it over Seven Years (you can tell by looking at these people's roof condition), this thing isn't doing too bad. I'd like to see what a recessed perforated aluminum gutter guard (and the contents of the gutter) looks like if no one touched it for 7 years.

  • @Everythinggutter

@@willyshooLack of experience or biased comment, I don't just not recommend ANY micro mesh gutter guards because of the micro mesh becoming restricted overtime and having to be scrubbed off continually but because the micro guard is to restrictive in general and the micro guards are WAY overpriced. If you fully understand gutter guards and are given the truth the point is you can get better results from a much better, inexpensive option. You have to understand grit will never clog a gutter. Properly aligned and maintained gutters will NEVER hold grit or a sludge in the gutter. The proper flow of water will always keep the gutters clean, spotless on the inside. Grit or sludge in the gutter tells you one of two things, either the gutters are not properly maintained/serviced or the gutters are not aligned properly. If you would like to see a REAL review on the gutter guard "type" not brand I recommend 5 years after installation check out the below link. Please note I am not being paid by any gutter guard company to leave reviews or give opinions. All my reviews are REAL honest reviews from actually results. That doesn't look like Leaf Filter, it's some other type. I've had no problems with mine at all. This type of video is called attraction marketing or curiosity marketing. You use a popular products name to attract people to watch the video and then when they reach out to you to find out what your "better" product is, then you bring in business for yourself. A very slick style of marketing.
