I took a bit of a break, but I'm back with a new news open compilation! I'm also trying something new this time around, taking inspiration from FlamingoPulse (formerly NESTLEH) and actually including the years of which the intros were used directly onto the video.
This time around we're taking at look at ICI Radio-Canada Télé's flagship newscast "Le Téléjournal". There's a few compilations floating around, including Intro Collector's. I certainly appreciate the effort they've put into making the video, but it looks like they've used more than one clip from the local Montreal edition (including one that I've recorded featuring Patrice Roy). This video aims to use only the national edition of Le Téléjournal.
Le Téléjournal first aired in 1954 (not 1970 as Wikipedia would like you to believe), replacing "L'Actualité" as the flagship newscast of the network. From 1983 to 2006, the program would be paired with "Le Point", a newsmagazine show which focused on documentary features and interviews and was closely modelled after "The Journal" on CBC Television. In 1970, Bernard Derome began anchoring the program, and continue to do so until his first retirement in 1998. He would be replaced by TVA anchor Stéphan Bureau who would anchor the program until 2003 and replaced by Gilles Gougeon. Gougeon's tenure would be short lived when Bernard Derome was brought back in 2004 and would continue anchoring until his final retirement in 2008. Céline Galipeau, the weekend anchor, was chosen as Derome's successor and she continues to anchor the weekday newscast to this day. Pascale Nadeau would replace Galipeau on weekends until her removal in August 2021 due to accusations of "harassment and inappropriate behaviour". Currently, the program usually ranks a strong second in Quebec, behind "TVA Nouvelles", but very much ahead of Noovo's "Le Fil".
