In this video I took the very popular DJ speaker LD Maui 44 G2 into a real wedding venue. I like to test out DJ speakers in real venues to get a practical idea of how the speakers will sound. A music test is done as well as a mic test. I was also curious to see how practical these speakers are getting into a car, loading in, how heavy they are, and how quickly they set up. One big question that a lot of DJs ask is, how many people can a speaker handle? Well, let's see!
Are these the BEST DJ SPEAKERS? Let me know what you think!

    WOW!!! This is the first video I saw someone review these speakers, in my V-Moda headphones, and I could hear good bass from these subs. Thank You 🙏🏽. All the others sounded like woofers in a trash can, that lead me to believe these things were over hyped. Thanks!!!

    Perfect review! I followed the same thought process as you especially with watching the limit flashing which happens on heavy bass songs. I go ahead and crank them all the way up on main and sub and watch my trim and bass knob more closely on the controller. Good thing is i run an external mixer to keep them all leveled. The way they disperse sound is awesome! The bass response is one of the mysteries because it greatly varies with which song versus a traditional 18 inch cabinet bass . Overall I love mine and been getting compliments from Clients and vendors every gig ! Thanks for the awesome review and can’t wait to see your next one

    These are my everyday drivers. I watched the video just to see what I can take away from what I already know. The shaking of column to take them apart was it for me. I always struggle to separate them. I give them a wiggle wiggle wiggle (whistle sound here) and they eventually come apart. The shaking technique in the direction you were going worked 👌🤙

Every event that I do when I do a large event with my 44s upwards of 300 guests in a large auditorium the sound is superb just like you stated in your video guests can have a normal conversation away from the Dancefloor. That said, while these are not 18" subs or 15" tops, they perform outstanding for most of my wedding and quinceaneras. For 300+ capacity venues, i take my two RCF 8003s and RCF Art745.

    A good option to add a good sounding limiter to the system to avoid too much clipping is to use a digital mixer like the presounus studiolive 16r has a really transparent limiter and it's only 1u rack space or the behringer Xair/x32 rack with the combinator effect, it's a 4 band compressor/limiter that sounds really good when tuned right!

And if you’re getting booked in venues with a lot stairs, I would definitely recommend using a more lighter system for those type of venues. But overall, after using the 44G2s for almost 2 years, they’re probably the best column array system

Second thing I would like to predict is you are not gonna keep those Speakers more than a year lol they are huge heavy and I think you are just experimenting right now Until you find the right fit and the right Speaker for you. Because you have bought a lot of speakers already, and sold a lot of speakers already. And I don’t think those speakers are the right fit for you but time will tell we will see.

  • @J-DJ

    Agree! Nope not the right system for Aaron, max 1year and he gets tired of 44 G2´s heavy subs, only 2.75 lbs lighter or 97% of the weight of a RCF sub 8003 AS and thats a 18". But of course if he brings a roadie for every gig I could be wrong. But definitely these 44 G2s are something different than the light-weight "wanna-be-Jason-Jani" RCF TT system with dual 8" subs Aaron tried out. The Evox 12 is getting ooooold, but he has held on to the Evox J8 for a long time so maybe Evox 12s is the perfect fit, and now white is also standard. The RCF NXL 14-A (the brand new member of the NXL Active Column Speaker Series) combined with RCF sub 705 or 905 (57.32 lbs) also a super option vs the 44 G2 subs 80.24 lbs.

  • @AaronStrawn

    @AaronStrawn

    5 ай бұрын

    Thanks bro, appreciate that. These are soooo close. I do worry after a long night, looking at 80 pound subs might get tiresome at gig 45 lol. Having a roadie with might really help. For sure my 28s are gonna be the main pull this year. They did so good last year. These will be for those larger groups/room. We'll see, not a bad prediction though lol!

In the end you´ll find the right system I´m sure - at least I hope so for the Wifey, she must be SO tired hearing about those damn speakers day in day out 😜I think you´ll end up with RCF´s, go on a trip to the RCF factory in Italy combined with 14days holiday in Italy - and you and your wife live happily ......... untill the next new column-array is revealed at NAMM.🤗

    If you stack every feature, the sound, the portability, the look, dispersion, abilty and price the Bose 32's with sub 2s just make more sense. I'm bias, but used the 44's 2 seasons ago so i know how they compare. They are good speakers but for mobile use they gotta be better than just good because there's a lot to accomplish for the overall experience of ownership.

  • @AaronStrawn

    The Bose is waaay lighter and more portable for sure. The sub 2 redlining has spooked a bunch (including me). I'm looking forward to doing a shootout with both of these.

  • @chadnliz2k11

    @chadnliz2k11

    5 ай бұрын

    @AaronStrawn but imo the redline is more perception than reality, do you ever honestly feel it's not giving enough performance? I've done 2 350 person weddings with mine at 11 o'clock on the gain. They bump. Also I use either a Bose t4 or Soundcraft ui16 with them so everything has proper gain and plenty headroom. I like the 44's, but the 32s ultra wide dispersion, the smooth sound, the throw and weight just make it better for constant mobile use. You can do tons of events with just 1, not sure the dispersion on 44 can say the same.

I made my own wheel panels for the back as I thought the LD options was too expensive, but I had enough spare wheels, wood and tools to make them for zero dollars. The wood I used was too thin and I'm starting to get cracks around the wheels. I'm just going to use a cart going forward. Bottom line is people DO care about presentation and sleek look. In the wedding industry clean set ups matter. If it’s not for you great, move on, but stop trying to change peoples opinions about how a separate bottom and top is better. Not saying your wrong, just saying each business chooses how to represent their brand. This is an excellent choice for the wedding industry and hands down looks and sounds amazing.

Did you not get the casters that screw on the back? 80lbs is no joke for weight, but still a lot lighter than many other options.
