My wife bought a steamdeck for her indie games. So i will probably also play soms indies on it. I have a 4080 build with a oled g8 screen. That will be for the heavy games. Thanks for your info.

the oled steam deck Is way more better because it had a 90 frames per second refresh rate instead of the LCDs 60 and also the Oled had a bigger battery that can give you a whole extra hour depending on the games you play and also the oled has a better cooling which makes it produce less heat the the LCD so with all of this in my opinion the oled is a must have over the LCD

Had my steam deck I got recently for about 3 hours . Realized it was the old model so I shipped it back same day for the oled.

OLED all the way. Well balanced opinion btw💪

Don’t forget with oled you can play HDR games. As someone who just upgraded my monitor to oled, it made me sell my lcd deck and upgrade to oled. My wallet ;(

I currently have both and I completely disagree, the oled coupled with the 90hz screen completely transforms games, it’s night and day. I used to feel like I was getting a worse experience- to say my gaming laptop when trying to clear my backlog on the lcd, as if I was sacrificing quality as a compromise for practicality. But since playing oled it feels so cinematic and is now my preferred way to play. Playing through metro redux is beyond stunning and is a locked 90fps for the most part. Unbelievable little device

Buy an LCD steam deck and an ROG Ally. Probably get both around the same price as an oled steam deck and get more access to games, mods etc

The ally kinda sucks and if you're not getting the extreme, you are basically getting 2 of the same systems. The base Ally is actually worse than the deck. You can still run windows on a deck. I got the ally extreme and it's pretty nice to have the performance but rough around the edges with bugginess, terrible battery life, meh screen, just windows UI vs purpose built steamOS. You also dont get a case, it comes packaged cheaply and doesnt feel as nice of an experience. The sd slot melts the cards bc it gets so hot and is considered not usable/guaranteed to break, so sucks it doesnt come with 1tb. Hopefully they do a refresh this year. I am returning mine to best buy and waiting for the steam summer sale for an oled.. I am exactly the target audience for the ally and it is a close decision but at the end of the day the benefits are really only in higher end games and it's only a slight advantage. The benefits of the OLED are great even beyond the better colors and viewability. When graphics/performance really matter I will just use a non-mobile platform. The ally is probably a bit better if it's your only gaming device.

My battery health 79% for steam deck Since i get it in late october 2022. So yeah, once its below 75% I will get new one

if poor get second hand lcd!

I heard some people have already experienced screen burn on the OLED model.
