Yea, 25 min is way too short for that huge blob.
if you don't let the bread completely cool before cutting it, youre literally just biting into hot dough. but 12 hour sixty second bread?
Diluted ≠ Dissolved
60 seconds + 12 hours.... i would say this is more like patients man bread

The word is '' dissolve '' NOT dilute ! One must '' dissolve '' the yeast in the warm water.
@monkeyman2407

Wouldn't the right term be to "bloom" the yeast as it really doesn't dissolve either?

Ran out of bread late at night so used your recipe, with a few minor changes, and it came out as a substantial country white bread. I added a tbsp of melted butter and a pinch of sugar to the yeast. In the morning I punched down slightly, formed as if making a traditional loaf and then put into cold oven and turned heat on which helped to raise a little before it baked through. Really easy and had some tasty bread in the morning. Thx.
I tried to make this but it went a-rye.

@ultimatesly yes. I wash my hands many times during the filming of the show. It's great, because I am right next to the sink at all times.
I make this bread a lot with some very minor variations like a tablespoon of honey in the batter mix. For a slightly more sourdough flavor let rise 12 to 18 hours instead of 8 to 12. The longer it sets, the more "sour" the dough. The biggest difference for me is the baking step. I preheat a dutch oven (le Creuset 6 qt in my case) to 400 deg and place the dough in the hot pot as a ball. Bake covered with lid on at 400 for 30 min, lower the temp to 375 and bake uncovered for 15 minutes or until you get the color you want. The makes a beautiful rustic boule loaf that just falls out of the pot when done. The loaf in this video looked underdone to me and the extra time is important for thorough doneness in a boule. YMMV if you use a different shape as in this video. Bottom line, this is a great rustic bread recipe, very easy to put together. You just have to think about doing it well in advance due to the long rise (ferment) time.

I just tried this today, worked a treat. So good thanks a lot man
That's not Lazy Man's Bread. Lazy Man's Bread is buying it at the grocery store. If you want fresh baked, you can buy the pre-made loaf that is ready to bake, either on the bread racks or in the freezer.
@steveshooter9010

I think the name suits the recipe. You might want to name your idea "Too lazy for real bread"... LOL. If you want "fresh" bread you have to make it at home or buy it as it comes out of the oven. Pre-made or frozen is not the same as fresh!

This was like a Seinfeld episode. The one with Poppy not washing his hands after a bathroom break, then kneading pizza dough. Here he plays with the dog then handles the dough...SMH
Awesome! Definitely going to try this! Thanks a lot
@AAPontillo did you let it rise over night for hours? did you leave it in long enough? it should have browned naturally. did you use all purpose flour? double check your ingredients with mine. K?
@Davatehi thanks for the help.
Looks awesome Jack. I might have to try this. The Italian seasoning on the outside is a great idea too...you could also brush it with a little clarified butter, and then sprinkle your seasonings on.
I'm glad that Jack gives his own time to wait for us on his website 😂
dude awsome videos. I will attempt to make this bread. thanks.
@CityRuler1 nice. How warm was the room it sat in?
@Kazutoification there was a cut in the video about 6:19. I did wash during the small break after sipping the coffee.
@Pixelmari I used the fast acting. Not sure why warm water. I just went with what I saw on the internet. Probably because hot would have a stronger reaction.
@TheVicci38 you are leaving it out on the counter and not putting in the refrigerator, right?
This recipe halves very easily. I use 1/2 envelope of Rapid Rise and it's ready to bake in an hour when placed in a warm place. PERFECT size for dinner for four. And this got rid of the doughy center. We usually put some Italian Seasoning in the dough and sometimes use pretzel salt on the outside. JUST THE BEST RECIPE EVER! THANK YOU!
@TheVicci38 are you using self rising flour? did you confuse baking powder with baking soda? did you remember the salt? how old are your ingredients? I would carefully examine each ingredient and give it another go. are you at a higher altitude? Some times that can affected boiling water and bread rising times.
@EmbrunFalcon91 it's good for over a week. it doesn't get hard if you wrap it up and keep it in the refrigerator

making this right now !
Great video Jack :) im gonna try this tomorow. I have a question though. How long would this bread still be good for? Im sure in 3-4 days it'l be hard as rock wouldent it?
@msbj10 I have no idea. I would guess that it would work. let me know if you do it.
@horsinoff Your right. Great observation
Hey Jack, my mom tryed making this and i was wondering if you can freeze it and how to thaw it, thanks
@TheVicci38 sorry. NOT baking soda. Dry yeast. What kind did you use? That is what makes it rise.
@gtsdesigns I did not know this. Thanks.
Awesome recipe jack~ Very easy to make, and pretty hard to screw up! I wasn't able to get a picture though, it was gone pretty quickly.
hi Jack, I have been wanting to try this bread, but I can't find it on any of your web pages. I got all the measurements from the video, but don't u derstand what you say for the yeast. Is it 1/4 tsp or 1 1/4 tsp. If you could get back to me soon I really want to make this witb my homemade sunday sauce.
you are so great...thank you bro

awwww sweet cupcake))) and the show is amazing!
@ScrewAttackEurope white pre sifted flour. plain stuff will do.
@ETforReal temp is always Fahrenheit on my show. Sorry. use google to convert it if you need.
@mrablemeable you can use google to do the conversion just type "400 degrees Fahrenheit is how much celsius" in google.
can you use brown/wheat flour?
I'm going to try this tomrrow.
Made this last night, only changed a little and it came out 100% the best bread I ever made. added 1/4 extra yeast, and 1 teaspoon of sugar dissolved with the yeast water. thanks to jack for this amazing idea.
ok love the show first of all. second this bread is awesome. first time ever baking from scratch was this recipe. i was the hero at my work thanksgiving party and at my parents house. begged me for the recipe. slightly altered the recipe though: added 1 cup shredded cheddar, 1/2 tsp garlic powder, and 1 tsp of italian seasoning to the flour and mixed it together. then combined with water/yeast mixture. sprinkle cheddar and more herbs on top its delicious.
Hey Jack! I'm making this right now and I just took it out of the bowl but my dough is staying flat on the cookie sheet. I'm not sure why. I'll send you a pic of the final result...Wish Me Luck and Happy New Year!

That is awesome!
yeah, ive done this one several times before. its serviceable at best. its actually not all that cheap when compared to storebought, and for the most part, its not even as good. its more for the novelty of making your own bread, but its only pratical if youre out of range of a grocery store. for the student, it is good to experience doing this once or twice.
@jakatak69 The flour was definitely fresh. I bought it the same day. The bread was completely done inside but it just stayed white for some reason. It was kind of weird, but still tasted pretty good. I'm going to try the recipe again, and see how it turns out. Thanks for the fast response!
@191MASTER room temperature is perfect for letting the bread rise. and yes Fahrenheit is the right unit.
@azujevas I use what the recipe calls for. Feel free to leave it out in yours.
I just bought the Fleishmann's Rapid Rise Instant Yeast, will this have an impact on this recipe? it comes In a 3 pack pouches that are 2 1/4 teaspoons each.

+Kazahmish That's the only yeast I have ever used on bread making. I always get a great tasting bread that only last about 10 minutes in my house.. My family loves my home made bread.
Does look good.
may get a better rise if you use a wooden spoon the metal counteracts the yeast
Did you use traditional dry yeast or yeast for bread machines? I will be making this soon! I love that you don't need to knead the dough.
Hey Jack, I have been watching no-knead bread making on KZread. You should check some of those out and do a Lazy Man's Bread Part Deux!!
So I put doug in the refrigerator, and it's still flat is still cool to bake .first time cooking with yeast???
what coffee do you buy ?
love your dog she reminds me of the dog i had as a kid her name was perky she was a bagel/basset hound mix. bread looks so good.
might actually have to give this a go!
Out of curiosity, when you say flour, is that plain flour, self-raising flour or bread flour? I don't need anything special at all?
@bamababy4913 put your rack in the middle. Do middle to lower rack. either will work.
Jack u rock ty
this video made me subscribe, you do know your food, a little too much butter, but that is preference. Way to go!
hey Jack what happens if i have leftovers? should i just leave it in the fridge and just cook it up when i wanna eat it?

I might be making this tonight depending if I can get off work on time or not. I will take pics of the process and I also want to experiment and try making some little lazy mans bread sticks with this recipe. Just kind of mold them by hand, I will take pics of that too.
@drpurple18 been using them for about 5 years. They all are fine.
