I've been following Layne for over a decade or more. One of my favourites in this space. His teachings, among others, were pivotal in helping me lose 100 pounds, fix two herniated discs, and break a powerlifting record for deadlifting 475 pounds at 48 years old. Great show, as usual, guys! Thank you for everything you put out.

I hate that Layne gets hated on so much. He has provided so much quality information for so long. He’s continuously providing and educating. So many people don’t even know that he’s been doing this shit with every single fad diet/exercise over a decade. I’m forever thankful for the all of the information that you all constantly put out. Layne and MindPump still EXTREMELY underrated.

Can I just say a massive HALLEFREAKINLUJAH for this conversation!! I love, love, love Layne Norton! What he said about people pleasing actually really speaks to me. I was bullied as a child and actually have never associated that with my people pleasing behaviour. I, like Layne, twist and contort myself, when I know in my heart of hearts that I need to say no. This awareness is invaluable. Thank you Mind Pump for being real and defending the honour of your average Joe; for acknowledging the difficulties involved in transforming your health. We need more of these discussions in fitness and in the world. Mike drop🎤

I think I speak for many of us who regret not having found your podcast before. Listening to you guys I have learned so much about how to improve my life in many aspects besides physically. All the guidance one can take from your conversations are tools that I am learning to implement. I did one year of mostly cardio and conditioning training but once I found you last December I started implementing weight lifting and in just 4 months I can say I love the change. So this in combination with all your tips have greatly changed my journey. Thank you guys and I hope to get my hand on one of your programs to keep improving.

Some of the hang up around “ a calorie is a calorie” is the experience people have with certain calories/foods. For example, eating steaks and eggs isn’t going to require calorie counting for most people to lose weight, but eating pizza and spaghetti likely will. So if one of these food combinations is harder to lose weight on than the other, then a calorie can’t just be a calorie, at least from a personal experience standpoint. It’s like saying “ a mile is just a mile”. Well, to a runner, they might disagree. They will say what’s the elevation gain, temperature, wind speed, and precipitation? To them, the experience is much different, and likely, even the result. You will run slower going up hill rather than down. I do believe in CICO btw, but I empathize with the thought process that you see in these diet communities.

I haven’t eaten breakfast in 2 years. Usually only eat 1 or 2 meals a day. I have been doing Keto for 2 years and started carnivore on March 17th 2023. I am feeling absolutely amazing. Joint pains are gone, and I no longer need to go to the chiropractor. Indigestion is gone as well. I started doing press-ups, and in the first week, I did 35 per day, which was 5 more than I usually do. I have steadily increased the number every day and did 70 a few days ago! I can't believe it! What I added was boron, which was suggested by one of the many doctors I follow on KZread. That took it to another level. I am 67 years young and will never eat vegetables again. No carbs, absolutely no carbs. I have not put sugar in my coffee or tea for at least 40 years. Another effect of this diet is that the plaque on my teeth has completely gone. After about a week, I could feel it coming off, a very strange sensation. Additionally, I no longer have bleeding gums. I only take thyroxine for my underactive thyroid. I hope to get off of it over the next year on this diet.

Three year carnivore here. Lost 40 lbs, reversed hemorrhoids as well as IBS, and my gums have also completely healed...no bleeding. Low carb works.

So good! That thing about subjective response to the same discomfort- pain, hunger… through therapy and coaching I’m learning that I have a strong aversion to discomfort related to perfectionism issues (if something feels bad something is wrong, if something is wrong I’m not perfect, panic!)… I’m working on retraining my brain to think of hunger as not an emergency and learn that discomfort is normal, just a signal from the body to bring awareness to something. Even slight hunger used to feel like an emergency that needed to be addressed immediately 🙈

I’ve never watched this before somehow came across the show after watching Chalene for the first time. If you have more people like her on, I will watch. I mean it’s nice to watch real people sharing and failures and successes that actually care about people. I’m a fan.
