The ending of the movie is a very dark one when you think about it. If the Devil doesn't get his way he has the power to turn back the clock and keeps on doing it until he does which confirms when he says all of the world belongs to him and shows it by winding back the clock and ultimately winning in the end. It's a depressing ending when you think about it. Not only the ending is dark and tragic, but Kevin is to be Milton's plaything forever, and will never let him go. And if you take the supernatural out of this movie. This movie rings more true now than it ever did before given the amount of corruption that goes on in the halls of law firms, businesses, and governments today.

Kevin's wife is also a negative character in a subtle way. She don't have any problem in her husband's wrongdoings (like, verbally assaulting an underaged rape victim) and she enjoy the luxury through it. And the climax scene where she insist her husband to go for the interview and finally falling in the trap of satan is symbolic to the Biblical story of temptation of Eve in Aden.

I can't remember the full movie... but did she knew about his wrongdoings? It looked like the case with the child rapist was his first case where he defended a bad person and won. But it looked like only Kevin knew that he was guilty. Given that the Jury proclaimed innocence, its only fair to assume that his wife also believed he defended a innocent man. So all she did, was supporting him in his career, which is not a sin.

When he shoots AL Pacino , al does the same movement as he did in scarface when taking the bullets

It's ironic that in the Bible the name/word Satan literally means "accuser" (prosecutor). And Jesus taught about forgiveness, not punishment. Jesus is a defender, not the accuser. The moral of the story is directly opposite to Christianity, despite the film pretending to tell a pro-Christian story.
This movie is a classic I’ve been watching it every now and then since my teens for the last 20yrs+.
The first time I saw this movie back around 2014 I was practically in tears over his wife. But the second time I watched it Charlize Theron reminded me of Michael Keaton the whole time.
@antojames9387

His wife is also depicted as a sinner same like her husband in the film. There's a scene in the film where she's enjoying with her husband after he did injustice to the rape victim. And that's why she suffered later in the movie. And at the end itself it is clear she'll get tortured again and again in the never ending loop by satan.

I know of one who busted his butt to get through law school but was so disillusioned by private practice that he quit after 6 years. He became a chef as cooking was his chief hobby. He got very drug down by the corruption in modern day law and his conscience remained in constant guilt over the illicit clients and actions he was constantly being forced to defend.
