Laws of Karma

Each one of us is completely unique. Some are fabulously rich. Some are wretchedly poor. One may be handsome, another ugly. Some are healthy and strong, but others, weak and handicapped. Some are born to rich parents and some to poor. Why do such disparities exist?

There was a village and there was a farmer in the village. The farmer went to the temple in the village and prayed before the Lord. My Lord, let there be plenty of rain. I have my wife and six children to take care. I have my aged parents and let there be plenty of rain. And then I will have a wonderful harvest and I'll be able to take care of my family very nicely. He prayed to the Lord in the temple and went away. 15 minutes later, another man from the same village, he was a potter. He came to the Lord and prayed my dear Lord, this year let there not be rain, let there be plenty of sunshine. I have eight children to take care and I have my aged uncle and my in laws, all of them to take care. Please let there be plenty of sunlight so that I can make a lot of paths, sell and make a lot of money. So now this is a typical situation. Two leaving entities approaching the supreme law and asking for very, very contradictory requirements. Now the Lord has to be neutral to all living entities. So how does the Lord do so? Lord remains neutral to all living entities because all of them are his children in this material world. And he creates a law which says that what you get in this material world is a function of your previous activities. So because this law exists and the Lord administers this law and each one of us get what we actually deserve which is a function of our previous activities not only in this lifetime, in many other lifetimes in the past. This is actually the law of karma. And in this way, Krishna will not interfere with different living entities and their desires. Just this is a simple example with two inhabitants of the village coming and offering contradictory prayers. Imagine a situation with innumerable living entities in the society and all of them having innumerable desires. And each of these desires clashing with one another. Then how will the Lord manage? So to maintain his neutrality, Lord has created the law of Karma by which every living entity gets or experiences happiness and distress in this material world which is actually a function of their own previous activities. This is the basis for the Law of Karma.

I have a question on Intelligence/Logic V/S Karma. Suppose a student is there for whom only 6 days are left from the beginning of his/her exam. The student has 6 subjects to prepare and each subject has 6 chapters. Everyday he has only 6 hours to prepare including both at school and at home. But the problem here is that it takes entire 6 hours to thoroughly prepare one chapter of a single subject and the student knows it. Now, the student's intelligence/Logic says he/she will not be able to thoroughly prepare all the 6 chapters from the 6 subjects due to lack of time. He/She thinks that the inevitable result is failure in the exam. But the karma theory says the opposite. Just do the action, forget the result/consequence. So the plan is, in 6 days, on each day 6 subjects and per hour 1 chapter. (The plan's outcome/result is left to the future ). So at this juncture what should that student believe ? His Intelligence/Logic OR Karma ? It would be grateful if someone wise answer this question in as to what to believe.
