How should we seek the Lord's protection?

The scriptures declare the Supreme Lord to be very magnanimous, ‘vadānyam’. Lord Krishna says in the Bhagavad-Gita that He is ‘suhṛdaṁ sarva-bhūtānāṁ‘, the well-wisher of all the living entities. But how do we approach the Lord, who is our ultimate benefactor?
