I was also 13 in 1967. Unfortunately I was already working as a carhop at a Sonic drive in so I missed all these great shows, I don't think I acquired my taste for this kind of music until my later years, now my favorite music is Lawrence Welk, Nat King Cole, and Andy Williams.

I still have a huge crush on the Lennon sisters. They were all so beautiful and their voices were so great and their harmony was as beautiful as they were.

This show is an example of how music really changed a lot in the late 1960s. More contemporary rock music was becoming popular and big band music was slowly dying. This was what made the Welk show lose popularity in 1967 and eventually get cancelled in 1971. The many fans of the Welk Show is definitely what has kept it alive for so many years now. You tube is definitely helping to keep Lawrence Welk's legacy alive.

Richard Luloff that’s when it left ABC. It was still broadcast in production in syndication until 1982.

Peggy Lennon/Cathcart was always getting stuck behind planters because she was pregnant so much. I don't know why Lawrence Welk thought he had to hide the expectant mothers. Maybe it was just the times that the show was filmed in. Always liked the Lennon Sisters and missed them when they left.

Are things really any better today with the political and racial divide? Yet, people are still watching something for entertainment...
