Omg, thank you for sharing this. I think I might have this on a VHS tape somewhere, but I have no way to play it. This really brings me back! I discovered The Welk Show as an adult & enjoyed watching it with Dad. Some of these numbers just bring me to tears.

Thanks so much for posting this episode. I really enjoy seeing the black and white ones. I liked watching the commercials. The highlight for me Buddy Merrill playing Song of the Islands. Neil Levang was also excellent; too bad he didn't get a spotlight. The camerawork close-up of Buddy's hands was super. I also enjoyed the band playing Acapulco, especially Alladin on the Maracas.

This 1980 Easter show marked Larry Hooper's last appearance on the Lawrence Welk Show. His only role in this show was part of the ensemble at the end. The one close-up reveals he is not in good health. He died 3 years later of heart and kidney disease.

A must see is- *Harry Warren: America's Foremost Composer (1933) - KZread* , a real life tribute to Harry Warren, with Harry playing piano and...oh' just watch it ( and yes that's Olive Oil's voice...well one who did it anyway). Folks don't know what they are missing if they haven't seen a Busby Berkeley directed 1930's-40's musical film, especially with Harry Warren's music.

This was my Saturday afternoon lineup when I was a kid in the 70s. Started off with Rat Patrol, then Victory at Sea. After that was Star Trek, MASH, Wild Wild West, Hee Haw, Sha Na Na, and Lawrence Welk. The lineup ended with Happy Days and Lavern & Shirly. Or Barney Miller, depending. Now, I am not a professional critic, but that is one STELLAR lineup. Oh, it varied depending on the season and what holidays were going on, but that's pretty typical. My dad was the Lawrence Welk fan. Our TV antenna was on this tower bolted to the house. To get the best picture, he sent me up to the roof with a pair of Channel Locks. My brother would stand at the window to relay the orders. I would turn the pole slowly and my brother would yell "STOP! Back up a little...RIGHT THERE! No...back more...THERE! Tighten the clamp!" while my dad watched the picture. lol Sitting in the living room eating off TV trays and I was also the remote control. We had channel 6 (NBC) 8 (CBS) and 13 (ABC) and if the weather was good, we could get 4 (PBS) out of Ft. Wayne. That was a rare treat. Don't get me started on the awesome Saturday morning cartoons and shows...!

A perfect tribute, to start a new Century and Millennium. A great chunk of the surviving cast, it was as perfect as can be. Many passed, since this. Tom Netherton's passing, was the saddest. As always, Gail and Anacani still pass for sisters.
