Bought an Ego electric string trimmer. It was good till the battery needed replaced after 2 years... Average sized yard. Replacement battery was almost same cost as the original trimmer price. Pulled out my father-in-law's 12 year old Homelite trimmer. $12 carburetor, new fuel & it was good to go. Used it all summer.

Battery cost is a big deal. I bought my daughter a battery mower simply because of ease of maintenance. If the battery equipment wasn't being subsidized by the government (i.e. taxpayers) it wouldn't even be a feasible option. Fuel has to be used to charge the batteries, and that is less efficient than just running a gasoline engine. I'll stick with gas until they ban it, then I'll sharpen my scythe. It's easy to maintain and i need the exercise.
