Both albums have sold more than 20 million copies. That is how serious this lady was as a hip-hop artist. All these mainstream legends like Jay Z, Nas, Kanye etc have never sold more than 5 million copies of a single album. Don't even talk about Nicki, she does not compare to Lauryn Hill from any angle.

I agree that this album stands alone. It’s lyrically genius and she is very talented. However just clarifying, the album has only gone Diamond once in the U.S. it has sold 20 million units but this is worldwide. Still a beautifully put together album and not taking any of its successes away.

Every time I see this clip or listen to that legendary album, it made me feel soooo happy, sad and nostalgic. Seeing a Lauryn so young, full of talent and dreams in 1999, after making one of the best albums of all time, when she had the whole industry in her hands and out of a sudden just disappear from the scene... I wish she could have made more songs in the next two or three years and listen to that music, but those years are gone now and we will never know what it could have been :(
