For kids who keep typing nonsense. The album "Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" is the first hip-hop album to go diamond twice. The other one is Marshall Mathers LP by Eminem. Both albums have sold more than 20 million copies. That is how serious this lady was as a hip-hop artist. All these mainstream legends like Jay Z, Nas, Kanye etc have never sold more than 5 million copies of a single album. Don't even talk about Nicki, she does not compare to Lauryn Hill from any angle.

Every time I see this clip or listen to that legendary album, it made me feel soooo happy, sad and nostalgic. Seeing a Lauryn so young, full of talent and dreams in 1999, after making one of the best albums of all time, when she had the whole industry in her hands and out of a sudden just disappear from the scene... I wish she could have made more songs in the next two or three years and listen to that music, but those years are gone now and we will never know what it could have been :(

Unpopular opinion the album wasn’t a rap album she sang more than half of it, even Grammys knew it. It was nominated for r&b album

@@theofficialVEVOformu but it was still a rap album at the end of the day. Like, if we’re calling Drake’s music “rap”, seeing as he gets nominated in this category, then Ms. Hill’s album is definitely a rap album. That’s just facts.

I was today years old when I found out that Lauryn was a member at Whitney’s church in Jersey (although there is a 10 year age difference). Whitney was encouraging Lauryn to do a solo album before any of us ever heard of the Fugees. ❤
