Laura an American singer, songwriter, and actress. She had hits in the 1980s with the platinum-certified "Gloria," "Self Control," "Solitaire," and the No. 1 Adult Contemporary (AC) hit "How Am I Supposed to Live Without You" as well as several other U.S. top-40 songs.
Branigan contributed songs to motion picture and television soundtracks, including the Grammy and Academy Award-winning Flashdance soundtrack (1983), the Ghostbusters soundtrack (1984), and the Baywatch soundtrack.
Laura Branigan died in her sleep at her lodge in East Quogue, New York in 2004 at age 52. The cause was attributed to a previously-undiagnosed ventricular brain aneurysm. It was reported in the media that she had been experiencing headaches for several weeks before her death but did not seek medical attention.
Her ashes were scattered over Long Island Sound.

What a rare thing. She left too soon, but she was blessed with talent and success, and stayed very humble and kind. No made up stage name, or fake anything.

She was a charismatic singer and performer. The first time I saw her perform on Johnny Carson, I became a instant fan. A rare talent!

Laura was singing songs that topped the best of the 80's. A decade that was never approached by any other decade when it comes to great songs. One can say she was the best of the best.
Laura's husband died from colon cancer in 1996. She was a talented lady with a strong, powerful voice that conveyed every emotion. Gloria is a fabulous song and will continue to be played and raved about for years to come.

Laura was married to Larry Kruteck from 1978-1996. Larry died of colon cancer at the age of 60.

Talented kind lady love her self control song. So sad she lost her Husband to cancer then passed herself a few years later. I hope they're reunited and happy

When did she first had her migraines? Maybe if she had it treated, she would probably still be out there singing. We missed her so much.
Such a beautiful woman great outlook on fame smart fantastic singer . It’s so upsetting that she died so very young she died in her sleep of an aneurysm my gosh heartbreaking .

Her debut album is still one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES ever - only 9 songs but so many jewels. I just love her. I really miss that she died so young.

She was married 14 years until her husband die.she was 26 and he was a lawyer he was 40 when they married.

Very well summarized in just a few words of truth. I have loved her since I was a teenager and now in my 50's I still seek out stories about her like today. She was deserving of so much more than she got.

She is a very unconventional beautiful woman. But her voice is so great. Her voice will live on because to this day I listen to her songs still.
this is interesting, I love Laura for ever - it makes me grateful to god that I am still alive, I first heard her song Gloria when I was 18 years old in orange County California it was a Huge Hit, thank you Laura for Trying.

Even considering that it wasn't my type of music, I absolutely loved her voice! The range, the vibrato, I remember thinking this is crazy nobody can sing like this!

I really agree. The interviewer's attitude is intrusive, almost agressive. She keeps digging for personal details, which makes Laura seem guarded and rehearsed in her answers. She DID have the power to reach people's heart, and she was gone WAY too soon. Did that movie they mentioned ever get made, by the way ?
She was one word........Amazing!
