You did it the hard way but I admire tenacity and work ethic. God Bless You!
Your most popular video is this DIY video. You can't be perfect at something you've never done before. Ignore the haters. You have the two most important tools: vision for what you want and a willingness to try something you've never done! I loved watching this as did 37000 other people. Make more of these.

Keep on making DIY the more you do it the better you get at it. When you learning something new perfection comes through trial and error. Haters stay away.
Well that's got to be the craziest drywall, in wall dryer ducts project I've ever seen. You had all the wrong tools except for the tin snips. But you still did a great job. Hats off to you girly for determination and finishing the job well.
Auntie Shug I love this. I knew I needed this solution specifically but I wasn’t sure what I was biting off without watching it happen. The good bad and ugly of it. Home improvement stresses my husband out so much because the tiniest bit of obstacle he shuts down so he’d rather not do them at all. Thanks for keeping it real! I know I can do this for myself now after watching you!
I can totally identify with your struggles in this video. Thank you for modeling perseverance and positivity!
What an incredible flustercluck!
You royally mangled this thing LOL.
Dude spends all that time showing the drywall removal & then skips the part where the actual installation occurs. What a waste
You did it! You were brave! Thanks 👍🏻 (Tin snips/metal shears is what you were looking for.)
I install these quite often and I’ve found it’s easier to cut the pipe with a angle grinder with a cut off wheel. Also it’s best to have the box placed flush with the floor unless your dryer is on a pedestal. Nice video
What a keeper 😊
I have learned, these projects take patience and persistence. You got it done. Congratulations.

Yesss lots of patience and prayer
Aunt Shug! Great job. I think the haters out here are funny, because it's actually even more helpful to watch someone with enough courage to publish their struggles as you can look for things to avoid or possibly do differently in some ways. For example, seeing the box depth problem is making me be sure I select the right model for my situation so it is fully recessed. That's one of the beautiful things about KZread, we can all learn from each other's mistakes, as well as our successes. I saw that you purchased a multitool after reading some of the comments here. You are probably aware, but the multitool would will not only help cutting the rigid metal (with a metal blade), but will also make cutting drywall a lot easier in the future. Nice work on the mudding, and nice solution on the wood trim! I want to congratulate you for knocking out the project and posting to help others. Hope to see more content from you in the future! Thank you for sharing.

Thank you Brian…. This exactly why I posted the video to help others
10:17 great idea to frame out the box
Get yourself a multi tool, and several blades including a metal blade, when it fits your budget. The tool should be right at $100, and the blades are a bit pricey, but it would have cut your work in half on trimming the exhaust pipe. Plus they can be used as a detail sander, so two tools in one. Good job on your installation, there is always some bump in the road!😺
I love this. I work in the trades and tenacity is a quality we all must possess before even starting a project. Great job!
Thanks for this I am doing this today. I had no idea how after opening the wall you use a special box. Brilliant. Your setup is identical to mine🥴👏

Not bad at all. I do this for a living. Stud finder and oscillating tool are life savers in these installs. We'll done. Couldn't tell you how many times I'm called in to finish these installs.

@@auntshug4853 I was going to say exactly what 👆 That guy said but I didn't want to be an armchair quarterback.
You did great! Thanks for the tip.
Outstanding video. Really enjoyed watching it. You did a great job.
Great job!! You are a hard charger and obviously there is no quit in you. Thanks for the video and wish me luck in my installation of a recessed box. My best
Hello, Great Video!! This is what I need to do. I have the same situation like you. Old dryer went out and the new dryer stuck out more. Where did you get that in-wall vent?? Can you provide a link to the product? Great job and Thanks 🎉
Awesome work! Thanks for the idea
Very good - thank you, but they do make a good large tooth drywall saw - like a huge knife
Great video. Love seeing your thought processes.
Well done. Now I know how to do it. I have a few good tools I can use for my specific situation but you showed me I can do this entire work in one weekend. Thank you!
I was enjoying it until you started to cut the molding. From where I could see your fingers were too close to the sawblade. I started to scream move your hand move your hand ha ha. Nice work Aunt Shug. ❤😅
What a calming sweet voice.
“It’s not rocket science”… proceeds to mangle every step of the process. Jkjk I really appreciate you posting because these are probably all mistakes I can and still will make
That job looks like a real pain in the neck. Did you have to do anything with tape or whatever to seal the seams in the vent connections behind the wall? I like the idea of building out the wall with wood trim to support the box depth; nice touch. The finished product looks really good. If you don't know, thinly feather the mud into the painted surface or you'll see the transition even after painting. Kudos on tackling the project. The more you do, the more you will learn, and the better you will get at it. I'm in a similar situation, but my house is a fixer-upper, and if I really get stuck, then I call in the pros. P.S. Have you considered using a drywall saw to cut the drywall?

I used t metal tape to seal seams
Great video, thank you! I’m gonna do this at my new house!

looking to do this together with recessed water, drain, and gas. Thank you
Thank you for your sharing this video with us. Did the recessed vent come with instructions as to the preparation for the installation? Thanks

No which kinda sucks about the whole thing. 😅Thanks for watching
Well done Auntie👍🏻
Wow they make electric tools for that
You did an AWESOME JOB my sista 👍🏽👍🏽
Nice job
One thing that would have saved you a ton of time is to drill a small hole or use a stud finger to see exactly which side the vent tube was on for the 2x4. Then you would have turned over the recessed dryer vent assembly with the hole facing upwards, then reaching in the hole and tracing the inside outline of the wall mount pan (rather than the outside diameter)... then cut the wall. It would have been flush up against the dry wall and you wouldn't need any of those trim/filler pieces you cut. Not to mention a ton of time fixing the dry wall. We all start somewhere. At least you document it to help other people. Most women don't even attempt anything like this. Good stuff!
I was hoping you would continue the video to when you hooked it up. Nice job.

Good lord 🤦♂️
liked that I saw the beginning to end of the process the video is a bit long and a lot of unnecessary talking so I sped it up but very useful, the saw on the floor looked a bit dangerous for me, thanks for posting
Actually, it looks custom with the small frame.
👍🏼
don't do that anymore
She probably shouldn’t use a hammer working with dry wall, and used a stud finder to not have a stud in the way I’m guessing this is a joke because it’s so bad It was plainfull for us all
My wife would have a fit doing this

You should not be allowed to go near any project again.
😳 Please tell me you didn't leave it like that (end picture). That looks like a hot mess right there. Definitely an "A" for effort, you never gave up, but you made it harder than it had to be. As for the final product, I hope you sanded out all that mud and painted the wood trim. 🤷♀

Interesting comment coming from someone who's never posted a DIY video herself. She did the best with what she had, which is what we're all out here doing. Keep it classy, Karen.

@@johnv3412 not every DIYer posts videos; shocking I know right. It seems every Tom, Dick and Harry is a vlogger these days. But just because I don't post videos, doesn't mean I don't know what I'm talking about. I'm pretty handy and do all my own repairs. That being said, I would expect someone who IS posting a DIY video would have the knowledge and skills they are trying to teach others. She did do a decent job; although it was painful watching her struggle with all the wrong tools. I just thought the rough looking end shot looked unfinished. Maybe she sanded it out and painted it up nicely after the video, idk. Didn't mean to upset her "fans". 😉

Looks a mess
I did not know that there was a " paper" to cover the perimeter of the box ( instead of taking a spatula and filing in the cracks and holes with spakling paste).
Not helpful all, skipping steps, thank you for wasting my time. And how, HOW wore you “blessed” by doing this project?
Props to you miss
A for effort!
You should really not continue doing How To DIYs until you get much more practice. You're just making a ton more work for yourself, because you have to go back and redo it all over again.
Terrible
You are better at floating and taping drywall then you give yourself credit for. Endeavor to Persevere.
