I have a 429c but it only has 8 reset options? It’s supposed to have 11. There is something that I should do to have those 3 extra?

Hey buddy, sorry for the late reply, in terms of the reset features, you may have to update your CRP429C. On the updates page, make sure the "gear_main_app" , "gear_gaurd_app" , and "Downloadbin_CRP", see timestamp 5:29min mark in the video. Now if there are any other general apps, please make sure they are updated. Also depending on the vehicle you may not see all the reset features, for example if you are working on a vehicle that does not have oil reset, then the oil reset may not show. Same with DPF regen for diesels. I know one time my oil light reset did not show, and then I updated the app, and then it showed. Hopefully I have helped you out.

Not sure to be honest, my guess is it will work fine, it will just stop at the year it updates to so it should still be useful for many years. I have an Old OTC scanner that I use for a few things and stopped updated around 2010 and it still works great for 2010 and under. It will still do other cars, but its limited. I think the Launch will be similar. I think my 1 year of free updates ends this November so I will know then. I'm thinking I might just update it every few years after that. At least thats the thought so far.

Hey there, it still works, it just stopped updating to newer model years. Not much has changed so it still does everything. I just used it on the weekend to reset the oil on an Audi and it worked fine. There is the 2022 version amzn.to/39EIu1K

Hey brother, thanks for the comment. The tool has a few actuator tests, but I would not consider it a bi-directional tool. The tests vary depending on which vehicle its plugged into. On a recent jaguar it was able to actuate all the gauges and vents. So far it has not been able to do any fan on any vehicle. I think you have to move up in price to get a true bi-directional scanner if that's what you need. You can check the link in the description for the company that sells the CPR429. They sell many others and their pricing is good.

Hi, I've been looking at this scanner, and the CRP479. Here in the UK, Launch tell me this is not a UK market product, so I messaged Launch China and they tell me both these tools are only for the Chinese market! Now I'm not sure whether to buy? Do you know if they support European vehicles, in particular I'm looking for it to perform dpf regen on my Vauxhall Insignia? It's really confusing knowing what to buy as the Launch UK listed tools won't perform my DPF regen unless I spend over £1200 (1400$) !

Hey Brother, The CRP479 is a nice machine for the price. I'm in Canada and it works fine here...... Anyway I did go into the unit to see if it covers Vauxhall and I can't see it. I even have Lamborghini in there, but I can't find Vauxhall so I don't think it covers Vauxhall models which is kind of strange as Vauxhall is owned by GM, but just so you know I can't find Vauxhall in the model menu. Sorry brother, but I don't think this one is for you.

@@GarageKing Many thanks for checking. Vauxhall used to be owned by GM, but they are now part of the Stellantis group which make most of the cars in europe. Strange though that Vauxhall is not on this scan tool, but I am not surprised as there is limited Vauxhall coverage on the UK market Launch tools, not sure why, as Vauxhall is one of the most popular brands in the UK...may be Vauxhall have upset the Chinese? O well back to the drawing board on what scan tool to buy that covers Vauxhall dpf regens!

It’s the 429 that I did the review on. I just checked it so I can say. The 479 doesn’t cover as many vehicles as the 429 so I doubt either will do it. I can’t say for sure about the 479 as I don’t have one to manually check but I can confirm about the 429.

Hey Brother, it really depends on what you are doing with the scanner. Will it always be used on the same car? The 129E seems cheaper to buy, but the 429 seems to have more coverage. It depends on what you want to do with the scanner. Both are really good. Hola, si está completamente actualizado, es posible que deba comunicarse con el lanzamiento para ver si hay una actualización de software para la máquina real, no para el vehículo. Sé que es posible que no haga DPF en todos los vehículos, por lo que es posible que no lo haga en el vehículo en el que está trabajando.

@@curiante1987 Hola, Quería contactar a Launch, la empresa que fabrica el escáner. El CRP429 tiene más cobertura que el CRP429C, por lo que es posible que el CRP429C no cubra el DPF para el vehículo en el que está trabajando. La empresa de lanzamiento podrá decírselo. Primero debe consultar con ellos para asegurarse de que el escáner pueda hacerlo.

you go into the manufacturer, and then you can reset the code, you can also go to OBD2, and then reset code. For the DPF regen it does not work on all manufacturers. This is an older scanner, its a good one, but new ones are better and more thorough. kzread.info/dash/bejne/nJOM26eof9DJn8Y.html I had a code at one time for $60 off if you bought directly from Kingbolem, not sure if it still works. I am using the UK Made 2018 Civic SR in Sri Lanka, the maintenance minder in my car was showing remaining milage till the second service and the service center people have reset the oil life via Launch x431 scanner when they do the service. and now the car is showing oil life as remaining days and there is no option to revert it back to show it in remaining milage. service guys again try to change it to milage via the same scanner but even the scanner does not have an option to change it to milage. is there anyone who faced a similar issue? or anyone can help me to fix that issue?

Wow, that is weird problem. I have not heard of that, as any setting you change with the scanner you can usually change back. Maybe they did not realize they changed the settings. I know in the Audi you can go in and change the KMS for the oil change service to be whatever you want, but you can change back easily and keep changing. I'm thinking maybe they changed a simple setting not realizing they did so. I'm not sure on your car, but maybe there is another screen where you can chose from mileage or time (days), maybe thats what happened and they have to find that screen again. If no one can figure out maybe take to Honda as they should know?

@@GarageKing here in sri lanka, honda agent charge alot to even plug the scanner. maybe the guys who did the reset may have done it with a wring region settings, i have asked some people who use civics in UK and most of them has days in the oil life, in US its the percentage

I’m not sure if it can be done. I know when I got my CPR429 I set it up for North America when new. I don’t know if it can be changed. I’ll check when I get home in and can let you know if I can see something in the settings. I won’t be home until later tonight so I’ll reply again tonight when I look.

Hey There, I believe the 429 is discontinued, and replaced by the 129 models. The 129 models are much faster than the 429, but I don't know if they will do key programming. Some of the menus on the 429 work on some manufacturers, but not on others so its best to contact Launch to see. They are good with answering questions on Amazon so you could always sign in, go to amzn.to/3uryCzw which is the page for the scanner and ask them if the 129 will do it.

You can with some vehicles, as some vehicles vary from year to year, you are best to contact LAUNCH to see. I know it does some, but not sure about all.

Sorry I don’t for the Kia. For some models you have to plug the scanner in. Then you know if it’s works. That’s what I have done with different cars, that’s why I think it’s best to contact Launch. They would know for sure.

@@chidosixtusp5732 Hey there, I think the CRP429C is the closest you can get now, I don't think they make the CRP429 anymore, as it was more expensive and no one was buying, everyone was buying the 429C as it is a little cheaper. It may do what you need it to do. It still does a lot of things, and is very close to the 429. That link I sent you is to a company that sells Launch, they are the best for launch, you can click to contact them and see if they have any 429 left. I can't find any 429 on other sites.

I can't say for sure all Mercedes, but I think it should. It is very good for German Vehicles. As long as your vehicle has OBDII connector you should be OK I think.

Hey buddy, this scanner does do some tests. It does the parking brake reset, battery, ABS tests, and a few others. I don't think it does cooling system. It might do air conditioning. On certain vehicles it does more and on some less. I had a jaguar the other day and it moved all the vents to test and all the gauges on the dash, on a Toyota it would not do that. SO different vehicles are different. It depends what you have.

@@user-ke5ve9ub8d Hello, there are many on the market. I find that the Launch brand is very good. I'm not sure what type of cars you work on in Greece (you have a beautiful country!!!) If you want full control to do tests you must spend more. Most car shops have full bi-directional controller. They sell for close to $1000. Sorry for the late comment, I have to check my settings as I did not realize you commented. I always get back quickly so I apologize for that. In regards to the bi-directional capacity, I believe it is, but it is VERY LIMITED in this regard. I have not had to use any bi-directional tests. I would not consider it a true bi-directional scanner.

That's a tough one to answer. It really depends on what you are using the scanner for. If it just to reset things the 479 is good. If you are looking for more diagnostic coverage the 429 is good. The 429C seems somewhere in the middle.

@@sammec2282 Hi There, it depends where you are living. I'm in Canada so the North American market. The CRP429/429C has free updates for me for a year. After that I have to pay (I'm not sure how much) but I can always just update every two years or something like that. My scanner is still pretty new (I did the video right when I got it) I think the CRP479 has more free updates, but that might only be if you are in a supported country (North America is not supported).

Hello, thank you for answering me! The code I received is for the TCM; Transmission Control Module. I’m told I need to plug the diagnostic tool back into the car and clear the code. I’m not sure how to do that?

@@ly9563 Yes you need to plug the tool in for that. I did sell my 429 quite some time ago as it was getting quite old. In electronics world this scanner is ancient as its about 5 years old. BUT, it can still do a lot of things without updating. Once you plug it back in, you should be able to get into the TCM and clear the code. Sometimes I found it easier to go through the OBDII menu as the top menu takes quite a bit of tie to do its health check.

My subscription ended in November and I just used it again today no problem. I don’t get the updates but it’s still good and working. I think it’s updated to 2019 so it’s good for a few years. Usually the updates are 2 years behind so just update it before the free subscription runs out.
