Getting major nostalgia right now. I remember playing games like Forza Motorsport 2 and Gears of War back in the day.

I love how colorful and fluid the Blades dashboard is, just screams early 2000s. I like it so much, I might actually mod my JTAG to have this dashboard.

Especially on xbox one, the current dashboard sucks.

I remember this... I had an Xbox given to me in 2008, I used this Dashboard for about a month before the NXE came out, but I remember not using it that much... grew up with NXE but still very nostalgic

i had my share of it too. in 2014 i got a un-updated 2008 360. with the blades dashboard later it was fixed with the latest dashboard of the time. and i had memory cards and 60 GB.

Great overview of the old blades dashboard. Probably one of the best overviews of it yet. Loved how you cycled through all the dashboard themes (Glass FTW) and the customization options for the guide.

Oh man that visualisation when playing music brings back some memories. Used my 360 to play music through at university, hooked up to my TV and with the full screen visualisation vibing up my room with friends, drinking some beers, and mucking about. Loved it ❤️

Gosh dang those colors and sound effects are damn near therapeutic Love this dashboard

Microsoft should definitely release an anniversary edition update to allow this dashboard style as an option

I believe Microsoft stopped using the darker silver on the hard drive at around the end of 2007, my 2005 launch 360 had it though.

You're close, but I think it was around mud 2006, that's was the consensus seems 5o be now among people who have early 360s

Brings back memories this is where it all started for me christmas day 2006 booting up dead rising for the first time good times.

My actual Baby lol 😓miss that damn thing 😂now I’m using the Xbox 360 Slim black not the newer 360 but the the one with the fans on the side above 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥marble blast ultra, Perfect Dark Zero and various other classics I had on demos of this thing. Nostalgia at its finest

Cool video! About E 74 on a Xenon - its either ANA solder loose, or a GPU ball problem. I recently fixed a JTAGable (7371) Xenon with E 74 just by removing ANA from the board, wicking the pads clean, and then soldering ANA back with fresh leaded solder.

Hi there I've got a question to ask. If you put in a newer game like from 2010 or 2013 into the console, when you decline the update and it takes you back to the dashboard does the game info say display 'Play Game' or 'Open Tray' or does it actually display the title of a modern 360 game like 'WWE 2K17' or 'Max Payne 3'? because i'd like to use this dashboard as an intro to a video. Hope you get back, thanks.

I'm honestly not sure. I would guess that it wouldn't show the title of a new game And just be blank, but you could always try it. Ask ArcadeMachine15 and he should be able to actually test it out

I recently won a launch 360 at an auction for like 10 bucks. It's a launch xenon in mint condition, has never been opened before (still has the microsoft sticker) and it's on the first revision of blades (only supports 1080i). It was made on October 17th 2005. It also works flawlessy. I'll post a video as soon as i get home

Interesting to see that it had a custom theme installed, but went back to the default theme as soon as it was unable to connect.

My Xbox 360 hard drive has that sticker under the connector as well, I'm not sure why it's there but on eBay listings it seems to be above the bar code

i have a xbox 360 pro (like yours) but its from 26 OCTOBER 2005 (It Was Manufactured Before Launch!) and it have the blade, i play cod 3 on it, but it doesn't connect to xbox live without updating, i cant play gta 4 on it without updating, but i think im going to update it, so i can play online, it has dashboard 2.0.2858.0. and the fan arent much loud, they sound the same as my falcon. very good video, keep up the good work! Miss Xbox 360 Blades I miss owning a Xbox 360 original I have a Xbox one S 1TB forza bundle white but i hate how Microsoft forces uses credit card I had a Xbox 360 Arcade came with 1 game and 512mb memory card

The original darker silver finish ceased after MS halted production lines due to the red ring. The launch day dashboard also shipped without the marketplace blade and you had to update day one for Xbox Live and marketplace.

It seems the cutoff for the silver on the Pros is mid 2006. I have two late 2006 Pros, one is missing the sticker, but the other was manufactured in early September 2006, and has the gray trim. The September 2006 360 still runs Blades. I am looking for hard drives but I am scared they will have a system update on them and put me on a newer firmware. Also sucks not much can be done in terms of DLC, I'd love to have the Halo 3 Heroic Map Pack on my blades 360.

I used the silver 20gb hard drive on mine and it didn't update or anything. Just find an original silver drive and format it before you install it on the blade 360

I never knew that you could customize the color of the guide button blade. That's so early 2000s, I love it.

First games I received for christmas of 2005 were Kameo and Call of Duty 2

microsoft should temporarily bring back the blades, and nxe for celebrating the dashboard and launch day! and everyone will access the old dashboards and have fun like it's 2008 again! A man can hope, let's make this true to have a little hope for this new decade again!

i also have a launch blade dash 360 from december 2005 that still has the marketplace tab but im scared to turn it on because its in mint condition and i dont want it to red ring

Even tho this type of 360 had so many RROD it's still good with the dashboard

Falcons are good too. I had mine from 2008 and it's still working great

this is pure nostalgia and I wish I could use this dashboard on my xbox one :-( The sound effects and the appearance were so unique while the modern dashboards are boring and stale.

I have a 360 elite from 2007 and it has NXE dash without broken usb door, im inpressed mine has working usb door

I RGH 360s I actually own an original Xbox 369 from 2005 with this dashboard, I also own a opus motherboard, kinda hard to get them in the uk

It's unfortunate many games released do not work with the older dashboard

Xenon motherboard ran from November 2005 - September 2007 (2007 had limited xenon motherboards as in May 2007 they released zepher)

Connecting an old 360 to the internet will update the dashboard, and downgrades are not possible. It is not recommended

Try putting a new game in there and console should download the new update from the disc or try to us wifi to get the update or you could use a usb flash drive with the update on it.

Do the compatible original Xbox games work on the older dashboard without needing to update through Xbox Live? I know you need a hard drive to play them, but still.

My xbox 360 has no hdmi port but it has a manufacturing date of 2009. Maybe it is because it was my family's 3rd 360 that was refurbished and they got some plastic shells mixed up or something.

No. Any game you put in that's newer than the dashboard will auto update the dashboard to whatever dash was current at the time. So you'd have to stick to games from during that dashboard or older.

Eh, the Xbox has been updated before. I can tell because the copyright date is 2008, so the previous owner stopped updating right before the NXE dash came out.

How do you get that version or NXE please tell me.

I have a Microsoft refurbished Xenon 360. Also have The 360 Slim.

I just picked up a 360 from a flea market for 5 bucks that was manufactured October 26th 2005. Yes, before the system even officially launched. It's not red ringed and does work but the fans start to rev up after a few minutes of being on and the console will display 2 flashing quadrants, indicating overheating. The thermal paste will be toast. And it's probably one of the consoles that had foil accidentally left on the heatsinks. Oh and oddly, it has the later grey coloured side panels. So maybe it might have been shipped to Microsoft for repair and they put the newer side panels on. It also has the newest version of the dashboard so no 2006 dash on it. I have another 360 that was made February 21st 2006 and it does have the metallic silver coloured side panels.

Was it a Core or a Premium model? Every Core model always had Grey panels. As far as the rest of the system, definitely replace the compound and it should run smoothly assuming the 2 lights never changed to 3

@@IntellitechStudios Nope they've never changed to three. It's got a Hitachi drive in it too. As for it being a Core or a Pro, how do you tell? Do the Pros not have the silver side panels? It did come with a 20GB hard drive that matches the colour of the side panels. Which as I said before, are indeed gray. The sticker on the left side of the back of the console has almost no information on it which is just like any very early 360. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like inside once I open it to replace the thermal paste. Gotta get some thermal paste though!. Ha ha.

The original model Xbox 360 was peak console design for Microsoft (that hourglass shaped console just cannot be beat), and the original "Blades" dashboard was the best UI they ever made. It just really makes me sad that, after the Blades and NXE dashboards, future Xbox UI's just got worse and worse. Now, any UI for consoles just look too flat and boring, what happened to a detailed UI? Oversimplifying was clearly a mistake.

very random but that xbox that was made in February 2009 was made one day after the crash of flight 3407. Dont know why I know that.

But i want to give you a help, you say in the video that it gave you e 74 3 times, but when you restarted it worked again, but if you try playng it for some day, it will froze and give you e 74, because e 74 mean a cold solder joint under the gpu, it always worked when you resetted it because you dont stressed it playing game, you only used it to watch the dashboard, the only fix for it is reflow whit heat gun and give more pressure on the x clamp (temporary fix, if you are luky it can last 2 or 1 year) 2 fix is to do a bolt hack if you dont have a heat gun but i dont reccomend it, because it will probably auto destroy because for the heat the traces under gpu will probably destroy (temporary fix, not reccomended, if you are luky some months) the good fix is reballing, this is the best fix( permanent fix, sometimes is temporary but it will last like 7 years if you do it correctly and do 12 v fan mod). Anyway how much it cost? But if you are keeping it, fix it, trust me...

@@IntellitechStudios oh thank you so much, this is puré gold, Microsoft should bring this back. :3 And I hope that I can find some day a Xbox 360 with the classic dashboard like the blades and NXE dashboards because those are my favorite.

I actually bought a launch model 360 back in 2005 and surprisingly it worked for all those years but sadly it died in 2013 from the red ring of death and believe it or not GTA V is what actually killed my xbox. Man I will miss that Xbox and this dashboard.

I usually film in 1080p 60 but export at 4k, so it's up scaled to 4k at 60 fps

If you're looking still, i hav a 2006 xenon 360 that works perfectly , its flashed and u can also play online with original games ( i havent tried burned games cuz i dont wanna risk it).

E74 means your GPU is failing, only fix is to replace the GPU

i know this video is from 2018 but i would NOT recommend the 360 slim, the buttons are so sensitive and the fans on mine doesent even ramp up, i got 360 arcade version one. the one with white disk tray and i love it
