Right after his 18th birthday, Dāvis Bertāns went to Slovenia to sign a contract with the Euroleague club "Union Olimpija." The Lithuanian club "Žalgiris" Kaunas also wanted to see the young Latvian talent Dāvi Bertāns in their ranks; however, it could not compete with the offer made by "Union Olimpija". The contract was concluded after the system's 3+3 season. In the 2011 NBA draft, Daavi Bertans was selected by the Indiana Pacers with the 42nd pick. Dāvis became the second Latvian player drafted in the world's strongest basketball league after Andras Biedriņš. In January 2012, Bertans left Olimpia and signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Serbian club Partizan Belgrade. In June 2013, in the final series of the Serbian League against "Crvena zvezda", Dāvis tore the cruciate ligaments of his right knee, which prevented him from playing basketball for nine months. In July 2014, Bertans signed a three-year contract with the Spanish ACB league club "Laboral Kutxa." In the summer of 2016, Dāvis Bertāns signed a two-year contract with the NBA team San Antonio "Spurs", which had acquired the right to the player after the 2011 NBA draft. From February 8, 2024, Davis will represent the Charlotte Hornets of the National Basketball Association. He has previously played for other NBA teams: Washington Wizards, Dallas Mavericks and Oklahoma City Thunder.
