The representation in her video is a crazy big deal for us. Most people here hate her for showing lesbians and drag queens in her video, and there was briefly talk about forbidding this song from participating due to it "not reflecting Latvian values" (there has been a lot of openly homophobic acts and statements from politicians, law enforcement and the governement lately). As much as this might seem like no big deal for more forward thinking countries, this amount of representation in her video is more than any other artist has EVER done for us, and I'm so incredibly grateful to her for taking such a step, knowing the Latvian public would hate her for it.

But actually the media in Latvia must be somewhat liberal. Otherwise they woulnd't even allow an artist like her.

@@questionmark3219 Not at all, I don't think she's done anything like this before, and she only gets to go this year because she wonour selection last year. There was no voting process on the song she chose, it was only up to her and a group of writers/producers. The media really wanted to cancel her.

YES! Like, I was so proud when I saw the representation in the video. It's so upsetting how many people dislike her because of her support of the community. It's beyond me where this homophobia comes from too. About time people stood up against that bs.

When i first heard this song i was like “oh this is definitely gonna be a fan favorite” but then i saw that Latvia was so low on almost everyone’s top i was super disappointed, i love this song and i am officially giving latvia the award of The Most Underrated Of 2021

I'm madly in love with Gjon's Tears, but Samanta Tina is my hero!!! 🌈💜 I live in one of Post-Soviet countries, which is pretty homophobic. So when you're gay and have to hide it all the time - it's really empowering to see people like her, who supports us, although she knows part of her society will hate her for that. We have a lot of famous artists, who can't even came out, bcs they're afraid of losing their jobs. Thank you, Maxxy! It have more fun watching it with you💕
