The G-Dragon message to IU during the rap verse was soo heart warming

That song is actually kind of a sequel to her song "Twenty-Three". Back then she was confused about what she wants, and here in Palette, she knows what she wants and who she is :)

IU is a soloist who debuted while she was super young (16yrs old I think). So Korea has seen her growth as an artist over the years (now 26). She writes her own songs and even plays the guitar really well. She is very involved with her music and her lyrics are like a diary of her life journey. IU is now part of a group (figuratively) called DIGITAL MONSTERS. These are artists with 100% guaranteed hits & chart-toppers the moment they release ANY songs. For IU, she released an album with ZERO promotions (no radio guestings /music shows) unlike normal kpop idols with crazy schedules during the promotional periods. And yet all the songs in the album are in the charts. She snatched the Top 1 & 2 spot. It's crazy. All she does is concerts aimed directly at her fans in Korea & other parts of Asia. You should check more of her out. She has also ventured into acting and is very good at it too.

IU and Jiyong (G-Dragon's real name) are actually pretty good friends. Nobody is sure when exactly they became friends but a lot of people speculated that they probably got closer when they both participated in Infinite Challenge's music special. They have showed up at each other's concerts to perform this song and sometimes IU fills in for other women's parts in other Gdragon songs. They have also given each other gifts...one of the cutest is G-dragon customized a Palette photobook with his own collage and gifted it to IU.

IU is a very talented person, she's not only a singer, she's also an actress, actually she did a drama with EXO Baekhyun and there's a clip of them in that drama that is very famous ❤️

IU is such an icon. I feel like she is always so genuine with her music

GD and IU considered as one of the most successful solo artist. Not even just in the categories for soloist. They're one of the most known korean celebrity. Not just in the music industry but also in other fields. IU has also found success in acting. GD has found success in the fashion industry. He's called a trendsetter and the representative of SK when it comes to fashion.

If you want to see how popular IU is, i suugest you react to her live concert performance of Blueming (there is also a mv). This is her 12th year she has been in the industry and she keeps thriving. She is Jungkook's ideal type and is such a humble artist who has come out of scandals still shining. She is not bothered by popularity and only makes music for her fans as well as not conforming to the kpop image. I like her as most of the time when she is on tour she comes out wearing baggy comfortable clothing and dresses very modestly.

woah woah woah. To say that IU is not in a big label is a misunderstanding. She's in Kakao M, which is one of the biggest music conglomerates there, they even distributed SM's albums at one point. It's just that they're not really an idol-focused company as they have subsidiaries for those. The company owns Melon, which is the equivalent of Spotify in Korea, and does the Melon Music Awards. They actually gave her her own label, maybe that's what made you think she's in an independent label.

All Kakao M has is money lol, they didn't promote their artists well, they don't even have music producer :v but at least they let artists do whatever they want, no idol rules

@@dangchauanh To be honest it seems the bigger the company gets the more probs they have when it comes to management. I think it's because the bureaucracy, restrictions, etc. get bigger and there are so many masters to serve. Also, in this case, they acquired most of their idol-focused subsidiaries so I don't really know how involved Kakao M actually is in the management of those companies and artists.

@@Pitapat819 IU only signed with Kakao M for 1 and a half year (2018-2019), so we could say that she came from a small company (LOEN Tree - FAVE).

@@dangchauanh No, LOEN was already a big company. While it's confusing because of the name changes, mergers, and acquisitions, before it became Kakao M, LOEN already had Melon and did most of the music distribution in SK. In fact, when it was still called LOEN a few years back, its revenue was already the same as the big 3 idol companies'. In 2014, it actually had like the highest cumulative album sales numbers lol. It was just that their source of income was mainly from Melon/music distribution for others rather than producing their own music content. She didn't sign with any other company, it's just that the company that she has always been in went through some changes in ownership. Then because she herself was already so big they made her her own label under the company, like how SJ actually got their own label under SM Ent but they are still under the same company.

IU is icon - sings, writes her songs, play guitar and act and shes great in all of that, also spread message of self love

You guys really should check Bigbang and their solos out. They are the kings and each member has very successfull solo careers. G-Dragon, leader, is the most versatile and iconic korean artist. He is the first idol ever to write and produce their own song. He is also the one who invented kpop lightstick. He is also the one who made colorful hair trend. Starting from blonde to pink, fiery red, blue, orange, neon green, white there is no color he hasn't tried. And he had many great and crazy hairstyles, some only he could pull off. He is a trendsetter and fashion icon. He is a korean ambassador for chanel. And he is the only soloist to win Artist of the Year/Daesang to this day. He has tried almost every musical genre there is. Hip hop, ballad, r&b, trot, edm... His influence in kpop is massive and undeniable that is why he is called the King of kpop. I recommend Crooked, Untitled 2014, One of a kind, Coup d'etat, R.O.D ft CL. T.o.p, oldest, is the very first underground rapper turned idol in korea. He is very talented rapper and just generally very weird person XD. I recommend Doom Dada, Turn it up, Oh Mom, Act like nothing's wrong. Taeyang is called the prince of r&b in korea. He is one of the best vocalist and dancer in kpop. I recommend Eyes, nose, lips, Ringa linga, Wedding dress, Look at me. Daesung is one of the strongest vocalist in kpop. He mostly promotes in japan and is very popular there. He actually has trot album and his trot songs are very popular in korea. Trot may be something you're unfamiliar with but it's very entertaining XD I recommend Wings, Look at me, Gwisoon. Seungri is great vocalist and dancer and the youngest of the group. I recommend Strong baby, Alone(this song doesn't have MV but there is fanmade MV you can watch that.) And oh boy their subunits are legends.

IU is literally queen of SK! She is idol of idols! Literally 80 percent od idols, artists are her fans. Only female solo artist who won GDA and Melon daesangs. Check her Dear Name, BBI BBI(diss song between!, Blueming, Through the Night.

the reasons why GD didn't appeared on the Music Video are he is on tour with BIGBANG and don't want to overshadowing IU message in this song bcs in south korea at the time the teaser of the song released, there's more articles covering GD featuring than IU herself.

Eh, no not really. There were alot of articles because IU AND GD were doing a song together because they are two of the biggest artist in sokor doing a collab. Nothing to do with GD overshadowing IU in anyway, theres no bigger artist in korea than IU, no not even GD. IU holds basically all the records be it number one hits, paks, unique listeners, streams, downloads or what have you, none else is even really close. I think GD is great but no need to downplay IU just to try and show how great he is (and he nor IU has ever said anything about him not being on the mv because of him "overshadowing" her, thats just false)

@@ronnnmmm Sure i could buy that many articles may focused on GD because the type of attention he gets, but the notion that GD didnt appear on her MV because he didnt wanna overshadow her simply not true, that just you reading into something thats not there. First time people knew about the collab was when the album tracklist was released, and that was only a week before the actual album release, and by then the MV was already recorded. Also looking at search trends for that year in korea, it doesnt support that GD in anyway got any more attention then her either, especially not during her album release, only time GD was equal with IU in 2017 was when he released his ep in june that same year. And she is the most successful artist in sokor, no prefixes needed, be it solo or group, male or female.

what?? GD has achieves more than IU!! AND ITS NOT ONE TIME BIG TIME.. HE IS VERY CONSISTENT EVERSINCE .. @Ashley Suhyun Kim I think you missunderstand me, when i said in south korea i meant that in south korea domestic market IU is the most successful(as backed up by all objective stats from gaon, number of hits, streams, downloads etc where she outperforms anyone with a factor nearing 2 in many cases), ofc international plenty of korean artists are bigger im not denying that. Dont get my wrong i like Bigbang and GD (and as IU said herself, GD is unrivaled in what he does) My whole point was that OP assertion that GD didnt appear on the MV because he overshadowed her is simply wrong, and easily disproven also by the fact that when the collab was made public the MV was already recorded, hence the whole premise is wrong from the start.

I love this song so much because it makes me think of her when she was a rookie. I love IU since the first time I saw her on Star Golden Bell playing her guitar and doing a cover of Shinee hehe. That was so long ago wow... then she blew up. Then I watched her on Dream High, and then she blew the actor path away. She's probably the most loved singer below 30 there. I love how she's been making her own music since she was so young, and she's an example of a celeb who started really young but handles popularity really well.

I really love this song and feel happy that IU collaborated with G Dragon in this.
