Nice ride, good to see them still intact, here in Ohio it's usually not the case. We run 3 Samurais in our group, been building them since the late 90's. I miss the good ol days of buying them for $200

Pretty sure Thats a 86 and I think its the first year they were sold in America until 95. They hold some records for highest elevation climb 😁 their also a foot narrower and a foot and a half shorter, than the Jeep CJ-7. Good find 🤟 👍

I saw one listed the other day that was swapped onto a Rzr 1000 frame and drivetrain, they basically just put the sammi body on the rzr, and just so happens you have a Polaris right there lol

Do you find that a rig built like this handles bumps and washboard roads well? and for a build thats like this and spring under are hydraulic bump stops worth it? Also if you happen to remember the valving or approximately what it was I would be interested to know. I want to buy FOA shocks, just need to save up the cash and have the time to do the frame reinforcements and shock towers.

Because a samurai is so light wash board will be tough to smooth out but not impossible. I haven’t tried yet but I hear UTV tires really help due to their softer side walls. Spring under is superior for performance but not for clearance. Hydraulic bump stops are definitely worth if. I don’t recall what the valving is but FOA is good about recommending valving over the phone.

Im about to pull the trigger on the spoa with YJ springs. Do you still recommend it ? or would you go another route? im looking to use 31, or 32 inch tires.

YJs spot is pretty tall for 31s but yes I recommend. It’s probably the best you can do while keeping leaf springs. Only downfall is rear axle wrap but that can be controlled with an anti wrap bar. I may do one on this samurai.
